A friend of mine owns this television set and there is what appears to be a large problem with it but he tells me it is just something that plasma sets do... I really doubt it but I wanted to post here to see if it is an issue that anybody else has had.

When you are watching anything on any feed or input there is AWFUL ghosting. It is most noticeable on anything with a black background. For example, when watching Lost. At the end of any episode it will be showing something happening and it will then cut to a black screen and the credits. In this particular episode the character Claire was holding her baby. During the entire credits I could still see Claire holding her baby... When watching Blade Runner on Blu-Ray, a dark movie, every time the scene changed I could still see remnants of the old scene on the screen until the scene shifted again. Everything just gets stuck on the screen and it is a very annoying effect.

What is going on?

Thanks for any help!

try taking it out of vivid and lowering picture and brighntess. It sounds like he has IR, not ghosting.

Definitely take it out of vivid. Tell him to try cinema setting and then calibrate the set. IR is temporary and goes away pretty quickly.
