I'll take a pass on P-Diddy, thanks, but the 60's original featuring Sidney Poitier cannot be touched, IMO. Certainly worth a rent.

According to TV Guide's Matt Roush, Phylicia Rashad gives a magnificent performance which is "an instant front runner for every TV-acting prize".

He says Combs' work plays better on TV than it did on stage, and in some ways is more convincing than Poitier in the movie. Roush also praises the work of Audra McDonald. She and Rashad won Tonys for their work in the show's revival on Broadway in 2004.
