I just swapped an earlier version (not sure if it was phase 1 or 2) for a phase 3 and while the analog channels look better than the old box, the HD channels aren't as good. Has anyone else had this issue? Thanks for any responses.
Can you be more specific?
Are you using the same HD output mode on the new box as the old? Turn the box off and press menu. Set the HD output to 1080i or 720p, depending on what is best for the channels you watch and your TV.
If your Comcast system recently added new HD channels, you should be aware that they made room for those channels [in part] by increasing the level of compression on a number of the existing HD cable channels. That degraded quality and doesn't have anything to do with the box.

Hi, Thanks for responding. With the old box I was using DVI output, with the phase 3 I'm using HDMI. I wouldn't suspect any difference there. I have the output set to 1080i (same as the older box). Comcast hasn't added any new HD in my area recently. Analog channels are better than before, All digital channels however are worse including HD. Comcast reset the HD signal remotely to get the filters to adjust, but doesn't seem to have helped. I was mainly curious if the phase 3 box had this softer pq with HD. It's not terrible, but the picture doesn't "pop" like it did with the previous box.
