Is it worth to connect a HDMI cable for a Home Theater in a box or plain component cables?? The salesman pushed for the HDMI, but I have no Blue Ray at this time, and is mostly for sound. The HDTv is connected to a cable box, and he suggested to connect a HDMI cable from the cable box to the receiver. Is that a better connection, or Am I just wasting money??
You'd be wasting $ in your case since HDMI for audio from a cable box offers nothing more than what you get with a regular digital audio coax or optical fiber.

ekb is correct, but if you like having one cable for transport of all audio and video then go with HDMI. You don't need to spend much on a HDMI cable.

Thanks for the replies... I have quite a few component cables, so I'll return the HDMI. Thanks again..

Your statement is confusing. You were asking about connecting audio only and now you mention a video type of cable?
