Ok here is the scoop, I am adding an addition to my house. The room will be about 18 feet by 22 feet. What I need to know is, what's the best TV under $3500 ? That's all I have in my budget. I was eyeballing the 61 inch samsung LED DLP which I can get from Amazon for $1900 delivered.

Please tell me what you think is the best set under $3500 and why. Nothing smaller that a 57 please. Pros, Cons, etc. I want to make a well informed and educated decision in the next 30 days or so.

Thanks in avdance to everyone for their help.

I know you are new to these forums but if you took the time to read the rules you would know...

1) Do Not post pricing you found on-line or at a local dealer.

2) Do Not ask for, or offer, a receipt so people can price match.

3) Do Not say to "Call John Smith at ..." (you know what I mean)

4) Do Not put down someone else's choice in their purchase.

5) Do Not start a thread asking for the best TV for $XXXX or I have a $XXXXX to spend

6) Do Not Discus where to buy a TV.

Posts falling into the above mentioned items, as well as the main site rules, can and will be removed without notice.

So I am not allowes to ask for advice from people in a community forum setting ? I don't get it. I thought that's why places like this existed.

So what do I do know, make an uneducated decision and then b*tch about the piece of crap that I bought after the fact ?

Can someone explain to me why I am not permitted to ask a question in a public forum ?

It is all in the sticky above. Here is why:

>>> Special Posting Rules For This Area <<<

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

AVS Members:

Please remember that AVS Forum is a place for people to talk about Home Theater and how to better it. It is where people come for advise on how they can get the best of what they own and to learn more about this hobby we love. People new to Home Theater also come to AVS Forum to receive advise on how to setup a theater and what may work for them in their home. we have professionals for all walks of life both seeking help and giving it freely.

What makes AVS Forum work so well? Well we try very hard to keep marketing posts and pricing off the site for this is not what we want AVS Forum to be. If we allowed it, it would quickly happen and AVS Forum would not be attractive to members looking to get help from others with the same passion.

With that said...I would like to add some rules in this forum area that seem to be needed due to past issues....SO PLEASE...

As you are well aware, we can not see all posts that are made and thus that is where the REPORT THIS POST option comes into play. Some posts may stand as you know after review, but please try to help put to keep AVS Forum clean of marketing. A member that continues down the same line of posting where his/her posts needed to be removed can be removed from the site.

I hope you can respect what we are asking, for our mission at AVS Forum is not how to get the best price, but how to achieve the best out of the gear you own or are looking to own.

Thank you kindly.

This is just a little silly. The rationale for no price talk makes many cogent points. That being said, there is sticky in the blu-ray forum about where to get the best deal. Why the inconsistency?

As far as discussing the merits of various componenents in a particular price range, this is just about the only where there appears to be a prohibition against such discussion. Have a look at the the section on receivers, pre-pros, etc. There seems to be a new thread every day asking similar questions. This is a hobby that requires money and everyone has a budget. People looking to maximize their A/V experience want good value. Spammers, fanboys and wackos are usually readily apparent. They tend to get balanced out quickly by the vast majority of forum members, whose knowlegeable opinions are useful, and usually fun to read.

All the various sets have advantages and disadvantages. The way to educate yourself on these is to spend time reading this forum like the rest of us had to. If there was clearly a "best" TV, everyone would go out and buy it and there would be no need for this forum.

If you like the Samsung then by all means go buy it. If you aren't sure, well you've come to the right place. Happy reading.

It sounds like you're adding a big family room. Set it up and pre-wire for front projection. Then you can go REALLY big. In a room that size, 60" will seem small.

Research front projectors, I think you could have a very nice setup in your price range.

But be advised you will still need a main viewing display. As you cannot treat a PJ like a t.v.
