After posting this somewhere else and getting no response, I found this section, so here goes:

Sony STR-K740P Receiver
Sony SLV-775HF VCR
Sony SS-MSP2/SS-CNP2/SA-WMSP4 Surround Speakers & Powered Sub
Atlas XL Universal Remote
Ethereal Component Cables

But after tomorrow it will be:
Samsung HP-T5054 50" Plasma set
Motorola Digital Cable Box
Sony RDR-GX355 DVD Recorder
Sony STR-DG510 A/V Receiver
Sony SS-MSP2/SS-CNP2/SA-WMSP4 Surround Speakers & Powered Sub
Logitech Harmony 880 Universal Remote
Phillips HDMI Cables
1 Ethereal Component Cable (from Digital Cable Box. It has no HDMI port)

Anyone have any suggestions on how to hook the components together (which component tie to which with what kind of cable)? Any input would be greatly appreciated. Also, the Sony DVP-NS300 CD/DVD Player, Sony STR-K740P Receiver & Sony SLV-775HF VCR will be available for sale if anyone has an interest in them.

So I'm guessing that I hook component cables from the ouput on the digital cable box to the input on the receiver, the HDMI cable from the HDMI output on the dvd player to the HDMI dvd input on the receiver, and the other HDMI cable from the HDMI output on the receiver to the HDMI input on the plasma TV. Now, what confuses me is a note on the installation instructions that reads: To enjoy multi channel surround sound from the DVD player, be sure to connect the coaxial digital cord. To enjoy multi channel surround sound when connecting HDMI, be sure to connect the digital audio jack as shown and turn off or mute the TV's volume.
Why would I be connecting coaxial digital cord when I am using an HDMI cable?

Also, the three components that I pulled out of my setup (Sony DVP-NS300 CD/DVD Player, Sony STR-K740P Receiver & Sony SLV-775HF VCR) are for sale for $300 OBO if anyone is interested. Just let me know.

According to this thread, (http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?p=12859201#post12859201) that receiver doesn't receive audio via HDMI, so you'll need the separate digital audio cable.

If I upgrade to the Sony STR-DG710, would that eliminate the need for the digital audio cable?

I checked out that receiver for a friend once and I believe it's also just an HDMI video switcher. The 810 does audio over HDMI. But, without a Blu-ray player, you don't have any lossless audio sources. So, why not just use optical audio cables? Run your video directly to the TV using HDMI (or component, if you prefer) and your audio to the receiver with optical or coax. With a Harmony remote, all the switching is transparent to you anyway.

That's what I ended up doing. I'm still not sure if I have it all hooked up right, but it's playing so far. Just gotta tweek it all now.

Hey guys, anyone have any idea how much I should ask for these 3 components (Sony DVP-NS300 CD/DVD Player, Sony STR-K740P Receiver & Sony SLV-775HF VCR). I have listed them on eBay twice, once for $250 for all three, and then for $225 for all three, but had no luck. I'm guessing $150 plus shipping for them may be a better price though.

Why not sell them separately? It's going to be a lot harder to find someone who wants all three at that price, especially with the VCR in the mix.

Yeah, I could do that. I also have some cables that I was going to add to the lot. They are:
Ethereal Stereo Audio Interconnect Cables. 3.2 Feet (1m) long
Ethereal Stereo Video Interconnect Cable. 6.5 Feet (2m) long
Ethereal Component Video Interconnect Cables. 9.8 Feet (3m) long
Ethereal Toslink Digital Interconnect Optical Cable. 6.5 Feet (2m) long
That's over $100 in cables (at least what I paid new). I know the VCR doesn't have much value, but surely someone would want it.

I'm sure someone will want the VCR. Separately. And probably no more than $20, if that. The others MIGHT hit the balance of $150, but I'd still sell them individually. Judging by eBay prices for those models, if you can get that, you're pretty much lucking out.

I don't know if the cables make much of a difference, seeing as companies like Monoprice would provide the same quality cables at a fraction of $100. But if you throw them in, you'd probably get someone grateful to have them. I'm just saying you're not going to get your money back on them.
