Architectural Digest has a spread on the White House with a few pictures of the Theater. I wish they touched on the equipment list. They are clearly setup for film, Im sure they have digital in there somewhere.

That was your attempt at planting that 35mm subliminal message in my head again, wasn't it.:D:D

Im actually going to see one in a couple of weeks. Will let you know what I think. I have a funny feeling I know how this will pan out.

It isn't really feasible for the president of the USA to sneak out to see a movie in public I guess... :p

Small looking screen area unless it is recessed... If it is recessed, then the speakers must be pretty far back...

When JFK used this theater, he sat back and to the left.... back and to the left... back and to the left... back and to the left...

Well no republican president is going to get more contrast than the stock 2k to 1 in D-Cine. Obama gets the SUPERKONTRAST.

George only needs 2-bit processing and a 100K:1 black/white contrast

If Hillary wins, she will need a PJ 150 Trillion shades of gray

If Obama wins, a black and white PJ and a screen with no viewing surface at all but a dramatic silver lined frame.

One time when I was a flying from NY to Florida with my parents, when I was a kid, Jackie Onassis sat in the row of seats next to us. Not quite a looker anymore at that point in time...

Gad zooks. You guys act like you've never been in the White House except on a tourist tour or on Easter egg roll day. Its actual quite the place. At various time bowling alley, HT, swimming pool (that's gone now), pool table, tennis court (outdoor).

The only place the President can go out doors and not be seen from the perimeter fence is the rose garden.

If only we could get an equipment list...

i'd be surprised if it's anything that impressive. Probably JBL or EV speakers, some pro amps, etc.

Don't forget the government pricing they get on things... So the equipment would be marked up around 150%.

McCain will probably just get an X-Box and a slew of aircraft games :)

From my understanding, they never redecorated or redid the color scheme since Gorbachev stopped by for a visit..;)

Giving the stuff in the ready room and the bunker, the HT stuff would be quite secondary in video quality.

Actually, they use Belden power cords which cost $1,000 each.
And special "White House Monster" cable interconnects and speaker cables that cost $1,000 per foot. The idea being that how could the President pay less than NASA would pay?

Isn't one "White House Monster" enough... :D

My dad graduated with a man who came up through the ranks in the Navy, and during Bush's first term, he was in charge of all military personnel assigned to the WH .He was kind enough to give us a tour and we got to stand in the Oval Office. Just imagining all the historic decisions made in that room gave me chills!

I'm from Minot, ND where there's an AFB. He flew his F-14 in for the class reunion. Talk about every guy's dream!

EJ,

Yes - they got into a LOT of trouble at Minot AFB because of a major screw-up last August:
