I have had this HDTV for a couple years and have been pretty pleased, it can be blurry on the edges but that can wait for another thread. A couple weeks ago I was messing around with the service menu trying to better the picture when somehow I messed up the HDMI port. It no longer recognizes the "digital" input, which is HDMI. I also noticed that the "Super Focus" button on the front has no use anymore, which I guess is also the auto convergence. Does anyone have this TV or the service manual and could give me some pointers on how to get HDMI back? I did the trick where you go to the self-check screen, turn off the unit, unplug it and turn it back on. It erased the errors on HDMI but didn't enable it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Did you take the back off without unplugging it?

No I didn't. I did read that that will trip it or whatever. I just messed with the service menu. I have learned my lesson though. I'm using it with component cables now, and it looks fine, but it would be nice to get HDMI back. Thanks for the help.

A relative has the 48" I'art. It's just being used for regular basic cable. I believe this TV will do HD but how? I don't think it has a built in tuner? Do I need a box from the cable co or is there a way to make this TV pick up HD otherwise?

Yes you will need a box from your cable company. You can use HDMI or component cables to hook it up.
