If it's doing this to your screen think of what it is doing to your body.

Too true.

When I worked for a certian big box retailer many years ago we had plenty of machines that came in that were "glued" shut by tar from the user's tobacco products.

Smoking around these type of electronics isn't just bad for you.

I don't think it's actually nicotine on your TV; I believe it's ash, soot, and "tar". Basically, all of the small particles which contribute to smoke.

Yeah nicotine is what hooks ya...it's the other stuff that kills ya (and makes your house dirty, ruins your electronics, etc)

Definitely try the Monster stuff but I don't know if it's got enough muscle.
I don't smoke in the house really anymore but I know what my windshield looks like, it usually takes some elbow grease and a stronger solvent to get the gunk off.
(please, NO LECTURES, I know already).

I'm interested to hear what works on the "gunk" removal also.
BTW... I'm redoing my Grandparents house. They have both passed but let me tell you, dealing with the damage the 40 years of heavy smoking with the windows shut is hell. Every surface is f*cked. Can't paint without TSPing everything, the cabinets are sticky, blah, blah, blah. I no longer smoke indoors at home, but do at my girlfriends. She just got a 73" DLP Mits, that's why Im interested. Anyway, I can't wait to quit smoking but looking at all the past TERRIBLE habits I've quit...smoking is minor for me. Drinking, numerous drugs etc. all to excess. One more vice to go and I'll be boring as all hell!! Sorry for the hijack!

The unfortunate thing is that most of the cleaners that work are quite harsh on most materials. I refuse to let anyone smoke on my house and have quit smoking myself. My girlfriend has also quit and so far it's been an amazing transformation! I'll tell you from experience that fixing ANYTHING that's been in a smoker's home is hellish.
