HD Fury Upconversion to an older NECLT240k P

Hi,

I have an older NEC lk240k Projector. And I have been using an older Neodigits DVD play to upconvert my DVD via component to the projector.

However, Neodigits no longer exits and neither do dvd players that upconvert dvd's to component.

So, I need a work around. (Basically I have a 50 foot component cable in my wall and ceiling and I hate to rip everything out install an HDMI cable. Also, my projector doesn't have a HDMI in.

So, will an HD fury work with a DVD the upconverts to HDMI?
Will and HD fury work with a Blue Ray?
Will I need more than a DVD player and the HD Fury?

Should I just rip everything out of my walls and start over because some exec required signals to be encrypted in the first place?

To do this I would need to bin the projector (Which is old anyway)
Bin the DVD (Which is old)
and re-wire the room (Which is a pain)

Can I put off this cost and work with a $150 part? I am not looking for perfection here

Crestron Control - Sony G90

Has anyone here ever used a Crestron system to control a G90 via RS-232? Or know someone who has?

My Crestron programmer buddy is struggling to get my CP2e to talk with my G90. And he says that the serial protocol manual for the G90 is confusing. I'm thinking that someone must have made this work at some point. Can anyone here point me in the right direction?

Thanks in advance.

Barco 1209s extreme image jitter/shaking and flashing!

Ok, my Barco 1209s recently developed a problem that seems to be HV related, the image is perfect for about 90 mins, after that the outer portions of the image to start shake rapidly in a horizontal fashion, looking at a crosshatch the vertical lines shake and wiggle about 2 inches in and then back out(very rapidly), after about a hour and 45 minutes the bottom of the image starts to shake up and down and a quick flashing line will show up every 5 or 6 seconds

doesn't matter what resolution the PJ is being fed, and there is a mild popping sound that corresponds to the flashing line at the bottom of the image, the popping sound is coming from the rear corner of the pj in the g2,eht,quad area

so are we talking a quad or eht here? sounds like quad doesn't it? why would it be after a hour and 45 mins and not right at startup?

thanks for the help

Hey I know I havent posted in many years as I happily been sititing back enjoying my creamy blacks.

But, to all good things come an end, my trusty old Marquee 8500 is coming down from the ceiling and is being replaced with some new fangled digital DLP thingy :)

Anyway I want to thank all of you who in the past gave me great technical advice and help when I needed it. Names like Curt, Tim, and Mike Parker come to mind among many others. I also want to thank Draganm for driving an hour away from his home to hand cherry pick my projector from the liquidator who had 40 of these salvaged from Lucent.

Most of which were used 24/7 in a command center and where quite toasty. At the time, the one he selected only had less than 3K hours on the tubes. Today the unit shows roughly 5K. However to some P14 voltage issues I have replaced the green and red and they probably have less than 2K on them.

Maybe there is some interest here in the projector or it's parts. I can tell you the Red tube focus is out of wack at the edges. It is likely a magnetics problem. I have done it once, but I really do not feel comfortable sticking my hand into that 30K volt environment while standing 8 feet up on a metal ladder. So I have lived with it.

I don't remember the scale and haven't pulled the lens off as I am still using it until the new projector arrives, but the faces should be near pristine.

I also have some spare parts from a higher milage 8500, LVPS, VIM, most of the cards. No HVPS or neck boards though, sold them years back.

Oh I have an HDFury2 with matching Gamma boost unit with RGBHV breakout. Also I guess I have no use for the 30ft ( I think) HIgh end RGBHV cable running throgh my ceiling.

Anyway not really posting to sell the projector. I really have little time or desire to build a shipping crate for this thing. I just wanted to say thanks for all the support and hey if there is a good home for this 240lb 3 eyed beast other than the electronic graveyard in my basement I thought I would mention it's potential availability. Maybe it's a parts doner. Who knows I might hoist the thing back up after seeing the DLP image lol.

I doubt it though I am working with a Hollywood ISF guy who knows both worlds and assures me I will be blown away despite some loss of blacks.

In full dislosure I thought I was losing a tube due to a sudden green tint, but after re-setting some cables and boards I got the image back and have been running it for about a week and half without any change to the image. So I think it is healthy.

Hello,

I used to have a sony1271 ,controlled by a htpc.Now i have a barco 1209, not yet installed.
What is the best way to connect it?

I have onkyo-tx-nr906
htpc with ati 5870

I thought;
Htpc -hdmisplitter-

to reciever.
to moome or hdfury2 to barco.

My thoughts off using the hdmi splitter, are because of the new audioformats to the reciever.
Or any other bether solutions?Using the scaler in the onkyo to the barco?

Kindly regards,

Clarence oh Clarence my benevolent well meaning Christmas angel. Wherefore art thou?
Image: http://www.iawl.com/copyright/protected/clarence_guardian_angel_and_george_bailey.jpg

I stupidly put out my G70 chassis on the front lawn for the metal guys to take and only realized too late the ceiling brackets were still on it. Clarence had a set for me but I can't get ahold of him. And its getting time to take down the 1271 and put up the G70 I have made a stream of petitions to my benefactor, but I also know what its like to have something somewhere in the attic or closet
and really not wanting to climb around for them. So if he's sort of putting blinders on to my PMs, forum requests and logs on the blog I am sympathetic.

While its a pity knowing there is a good set out there just waiting for my cash, I
have to start looking towards alternatives. Its been almost three months and I tried running the G70 on the floor. But had to retire it the other day when the input card got pulled by a cord trip in the dark. The projector is fine but I won't risk it on the floor anymore.

When I went out with Curt on the NEC install I am pretty sure his customer has made up a pair of makeshift tabs with holes and cutouts instead of the official brackets. Maybe I could do the same? Maybe someone else has brackets? Maybe someone has brackets the don't want to dispose of but I could use a scan or tracing as a template? I have access to a shop where maybe I could make something. Obviously I would rather have the real thing for safety and functionality. I have the ceiling mount. Just not the brackets. Clarence has also found his mount but not the brackets.

Sony 1292 Problem

Hello
I did something terribly wrong with my Sony 1292:mad:: Since I do not have an own IR remote control I took the control panel out of the 1292 and connected a long cable to the original cable so that I can walk around when doing the adjustments. All worked fine for a couple of months.

Now some of the solder joints became lose and got shorted. After fixing the shorted wires I can still turn the projector on and off, the fans are working, no error message is displayed but I get no picture. All keys other than the on / off keys (input selection, page, or test key etc.) do no longer work.

When I turn on the projector only the green tube flickers after 10 seconds for a fraction of a second. The display on the projector remains dark all the time when powering on and off. If I am not mistaken it used to light up shortly in the past. I wanted to produce an error message and disconnected one of the fans. While the porjector powers on and immediately off again, no error message is displayed. When I did this in the past the protection circuit would have done the same but an error message would have appeared on the display.

I have had the chance to borrow an IR remote control which produces the same result as when I use the remote control which is connected via the long cable. This means it has nothing to do with the remote control. Could it be that I have blown the control card (I guess that's the Y Module)?

Any help is highly appreciated.

It was 10 years ago this month I found AVS forum.

I had acquired a Sony 1252, knowing next-to-nothing about how to set one up. Me being able to get the beast up and running, I owe everything to the fine members here. I added a second RGBHV card, ceiling mounted it, installed the small spacers.

I started with a DVDO line doubler (a breakthrough in price/performanmce.) Added the Skyworth DVD player with the VGA output. (one of the first using the faroudja chip) and dabled with HTPC and powerstrip running around 800x600.

It gave me many good years of service, until I committed the betrayal of going LCD around '05.

I just wanted to say thanks in the CRT forum where it all began.

Thank you!,

I just wanted to say thanks in the CRT forum where it all began.

Thank you!,

Hi!

I'm using my Sony 1272Q with my HTPC, and was just wondering whether it's worth the hassle to use the HTPC to process the video with IVTC and de-interlacing. Since the CRT projector can display interlaced material at its native rate, wouldn't that be the best way of playing it back though? What do I gain in terms of picture quality and motion quality by processing it like this?

As it is, I've been trying to get it working with processing and still have judder issues, which I've posted about in the HTPC section of the forum.

Just curious. I'm new to all this stuff! Thanks!

I have two Sony G70's, a faroudja dvp3000 and a key digital HD Leeza.
I had thought about a double stack of the G70's in a room with 100% light control. I also can get my hands on a G90 with very low hours (the 70's are both in the 5000's). Or do I sell the 70's for something else. Any suggestions?

Vertical mounting, how should I mount the mirror?

Hi everyone,
I am a happy owner of a BG808s. several weeks ago, I mounted the projector vertically in order to get a bigger picture in a very small room.
I'm using a regular glass mirror for now, and I haven't found a way to mount it correctly.
I have two main problems:
1) Focus, any millimeter stretch on the mirror causes an uneven focus, which I can't fix. The focus at the middle of the green is worst than I'm used to, but I assume that's the fault of the regular mirror.
2) Setup stability, I have to correct the convergence and focus almost every day. I assume the reason is that the mirror is not mounted correctly.

So, any ideas how should I mount the mirror in order to solve these problems?

Regards,
Or

Hi All,

I am trying different resolutions via my DVDO but I would be interested in knowing if anyone has the answer as to what resolution produces the best image in a NEC6PGXTRA.
Source is 720p (Blueray) and 1080i (Settop Box) The Projector is Approx 3m from the screen.

Thanks
