Anyone knowing and lived through three separate flashing light failures in one year on the 360 would not add and compound problems by adding an HD Drive that's of the lowest scale on a machine that tends to overheat and simply cannot touch a XA2 or BD. Today I'm awaiting my third replacement 360 in a year and thankful I didn't buy the add-on HD POS to compound things worse. Each time you experience one of these failures you have to go through a bunch of BS on-line troubleshooting and proving the failure and then spend about 3 weeks without a player so there would go your HD movies not just games. If I didn't have so many games there's no way I'd go 360 again with a PS3 available though Halo 3 is the addiction that holds many. ![]() I simply would never judge the performance of this 71 or any other panel with a historical problematic X360 unit and it's history of failure where Microsoft took the warranty from 90 days to three years as a result the add-on certainly would be on the bottom rung of all such HD players. ![]() Perhaps it would help if some owners of the XA2(w/firmware update)/BD 1200 could try some of these comparisons to see if the events replicate.

Noob question regarding the 120Hz on XX71:
Does Auto Motion needs to be turned on in order to have the 120Hz feature? Is 120Hz native to the TV? For example: if connected to Blu-Ray with output at 24Hz (will it automatically do 120/24 = 5fps? or will the Auto Motion be required to be turned on (low, med, high) in order to have 120/24=5? |

Hi All, We are getting some new boards on our xx61/65 series TV's. Wondering if these are coming from the 71 series. Has any one posted firmware/hardware versions from the 71's? I skimmed the thread but did not see this. Hoping someone can post theirs.

Have no idea what it solved, or changed. Have also heard that when telling Samsung about the "tripple" effect, they insist that they send a tech out. What is resolved, or done, once they arrive I have not heard, nor have I seen any wiselink firmware updates on their site. CadJoe |

1080p/24 Hz
Quote:
As far as I know, no LCD TV converts directly from 1080P/24 Hz to 1080P/120 via 5:5. Manufactures say too much blur is perceived by eye. Remember, 1080P /24Hz is only updating at a relatively slow 24 Hz rate due to bandwidth considerations. If you input 1080P/24 Hz directly to the TV, the TV will do the 3:2 pulldown internally to 1080P/60Hz and then display it at a 120 Hz refresh rate. If you input 1080P/60Hz from a HD player, the 3:2 pulldown is performed by the player. The TV then just displays this 1080P/60 Hz signal at 120Hz refresh. Of course the question here is, does the TV and the player do 3:2 pull down correctly? They don't always. The worst case would be where neither the player nor the TV does it correctly. If they both do 3:2 pulldown correctly there should be no difference in Judder performance and artifacting. Blur reduction ,the other hand, depends on the TVs video processing. The jury is still out on whether the 71 series passes the 3:2 pull down test. The XBR4 fails. Maybe the TV manufactures are depending on the player to have the good 3:2 pulldown processor. It would be nice to get a good comparison of the blur reduction performance between an XBR4 and a 71 series with the exact same 1080P/60 source. |

Sorry, but it is unclear what the "that" is in your question. I simply pointed to the Imaging Science Foundation website as the basis for ISF calibration techniques (which is what the original question was asking about) and not to promote the purchase of anything on that site. Sorry for the confusion.

When setting up the cable box, pay special attention to two settings: 1) Output Formats: determines which formats (1080i, 720p, 480i, 480p) you want the box to be able to send out based on what signal it's receiving 2) Sound over HDMI (or something like that): Turn this on to make sure the DVR send the audio with the video over the HDMI cable. Good luck... |

Regarding whether 71 actually does 5:5 on 24fps content, can someone just use PS3 and output "60fps with AMP Off" vs "24fps with AMP Off"?
Since 60fps must have 3:2 going on, if 24fps output looks the same as 60fps output, that means 71 doesn't do 5:5. If 24fps output looks smoother than 60fps output, something must have changed, and if it's not AMP since it's off, it's most likely 5:5 by the TV. People can try this on Sony XBR4/5 also and see if they see any difference. To my eyes, I don't see any difference between 60fps output and 24fps output on my 5271, which makes me believe that the TV doesn't do 5:5. By the way, someone mentioned above that no LCD advertise 5:5, but there's people in forum that mentioned http://freemedia.realgage.com/regza-...m-toshiba.html which does 5:5. The Mits is a diamond series 16:9. Absolutely no problems and a very decent 1080i picture, but it's as big as a piano. Reducing the depth of my TV, from 2 feet to prox. 6 inches adds nearly 7.5 square feet of real estate to my HT room and increases viewing distance by 1.5 feet. The 57 inch 16:9 LCD is about as large as I can go, due to the unfortunate location of a doorway.

5271... my new hdty is haveing a hard time playing movies from cable... hd or regular... seems to be a trail behind motion... sports are great.. just movies.... seems like part of the pic is losing focus.. and a blur image behind the moving object... any sugestions.
amp.. on or off doesn't seem to make any difference. |

Watching the price on Amazon for the 5271 is like watching the stock market. It's gone up and down several times over the pass week, but generally it's going up. They're probably selling a lot more of it with the good reviews the TV has been getting.
So does Samsung know about the issues with their lcd? Hopefully, they'll release a firmware that can fix the problems. |

Do you know what you are talking about
This tv has been going down since it came out.
The 4671 is down to 2499$ from 3400$ in less than 21 days I think this tv will stop going down. When they release the 69 series this tv may actually go up in price I do not think that waiting for this tv to drop will be worth it.. I really feel that there is no more need to wait and I might go to best buy and see if they can price match amazon.. but i doubt they will -Dan |

It was the first time i saw that sort of 'lag and catch up' scenes and i am wondering if it was the source or a hiccup in my comcast STB, because i don't see this in my HD-DVD movies. |

However, Amazon and EGL might have a special arrangement concerning 'out of the way' deliveries. Also, i thought I read somewhere that some people got their TV's via UPS instead of EGL. If EGL can't deliver, i'm sure amazon will use another carrier. Have you called EGL in general and ask if they deliver in your area? |

This is an AMP issue as far as I know. Turn it off and it goes away. I wish a Samsung rep would come here and tell us exactly what purpose AMP is supposed to serve beyond hype and marketing-speak? |
