Though, if i understand correctly this shouldn't be an issue if my blu-ray player is a PS3? The audio is processed through the PS3? Hell, i don't know how it does it, but i don't want any issues.

thanks,

On the defective disc that I encounted the True HD sounded muffled as well. My setup is PS3 and an Onkyo SR705. Audio was sent via PCM.

A little update on my situation. I stopped my Blu Ray player and went into the players setup menu. The audio compression modes for PCM output were set to on. I normally leave them set to off. I did a firmware upgrade last week and it might have reset defaults. Not sure if this has anything to do with audio output through HDMI or not but audio seems improved over what I was getting before but still seems somewhat limited. I tried the L Night button again and I still get "Not Available". Still not sure what is up with the L Night feature but I suspect its still in midnight mode.

Late Night won't work for mine either. I don't think that it works with PCM.

Iron-Man Issues?

I just opened my blu ray version that I purchased from best buy. I put it in my ps3 and it sat at the loading screen for a good 5-10 minutes. It works, but i was curious if anyone else ran into this issue.

I'm having the same issue with my copy of Ironman purchased at Walmart on my Panasonic DMP-BD50.

I popped in the disc, it says network connection started and it was locked up for 5 minutes.

That's weak, I'm not paying $40 for it but it sure would be nice to have a copy in a case with all the info on the back and no bulky slip cover.

Officer Steve - That's kinda what I was wondering. I'm using a Denon 3801 connected to a Pany BD10A via analogs but it seems like some of these audio compliants have to do with the disc and some with gear settings

Sony BDP-BX1 and so far no problems with Iron Man BD. I have only watched the first half hour though.

It's probably downloading the BD Live information to your BD player. The first time always takes a few minutes. Once it's fully downloaded, the next time you play this BD it won't take as long (only when there are new updates to BD Live).

This also happened with the Transformers BD. Nothing's wrong, nothing's defective. Those of you who had HD DVD, would know of these initial downloads with a lot of HD DVDs

Has anyone seen the Blu-Ray for sale in Costco? If so, what was the price in-store?

Thanks.

It just started working, took around 10 minutes... Crazy that BD-Live slows it down THAT much.

I quickly learnt to disconnect my player from internet and disable downloading.

Glad I don't have a BD 2.0 player. I never watch extras and downloaded contents anyway.
Yeah, I didn't mind it too much. There are a bunch of threads already started about the downloading time. People are beginning to think they have defective discs because of the whole recall.....this should be fun....

Just initially....it's got to get the info downloaded to your player for the first time. You can imagine that the server is getting hit pretty hard today as everyone's been loading up their copy of Iron Man.

As a side note, if you cancel the download, the movie will try to download the content the next time you load the disc which will lead to a slow waiting period again. It's best to wait the first time around, cuz moving forward, you won't have to wait that long.

I hear ya, this is brutal....although I think a lot of it has to do with everyone hammering Paramount's servers today with this initial loading as well as the BD Live content for Transformers. Once the initial loading is complete (it may take 2 times to be fully complete) it should fly by every other time (at least we hope)

So does this have a straight English 5.1 track at all???

I don't have a receiver capable of TrueHD, and when I'm watching the disc, I only get surround out of the Spanish and French tracks over optical.

Very lame if there's no way to access a regular 5.1 track.

When he fires the missile and it detonates in the side of the mountain it contains some serious bass. I am pretty sure its in the beginning of the movie. I watched the first 30 minutes and did not see it.

Mine is taking 2 minutes so far so I jumped into this forum. I will wait and edit this message.

Freaked out for a bit .... but 5 minutes better not be every time I pop this in!

I've been sitting for about 25 minutes now. I guess the spec for BD Live didn't allow for the idea of stuff being downloaded in the background.

Implemented like this, I definitely agree. You'd think they would have including a way of canceling the download.
