The CBS early game - why is Nevada getting Texans/Colts when the rest of the western half of the US (including Alaska and Hawaii) is getting Dolphins/Patriots?

Are there any Nevada players on either the Colts' or Texans' roster?

Argh! Why is CBS forcing Miami-NE on us when the best game of the day is BAL-CIN? I get so tired of their obsession with the Patriots.

I also noticed most of North Dakota getting that Texans/Colts game. Why?

It could just be early scheduling that hasn't been updated yet.

(This is why the maps normally weren't released until Wednesday)

Same in Michigan, I'd much rather see Bal/Cin or Indy/Hou

Now we need WHTV to go HD and Lansing's CW to get a separate transmitter so it isn't a digital sub.

I am in Lubbock, TX and I looked up the games on my DVR Guide and what a surprise I got!!! Dolphins/Pats is being shown in my area, the week that the Texans have their biggest game of the year against the undefeated Colts!!!!!!!! We are in Texas, why the hell would I care about two east coast teams.

Your DVR guide is probably wrong. The maps linked at the top of this thread are generally the most accurate source available, while DVR guide data is notoriously inaccurate.

I looked again at the map for the CBS early game linked at the top of this thread and drilled down to Texas. Lubbock is in the green area, which means you'll get the Texans/Colts game, so relax.

Sometimes the DVR entries come in early from your provider and don't accurately reflect the game to show. Check back later in the week and it should be corrected. The maps at the web site here have been, even though unofficial, pretty accurate on what games are shown where.

Baltimore at Cincinnati is not sold out but the Bengals received another 24 hour extension this week. They said they have 3,000 tickets left, but the axiom that states extension = sellout has yet to be proven wrong...

In his weekly Sports Media column, Jay Posner (San Diego Union-Tribune) pointed out that Phil Simms will be doing his first Giants game (Chargers@Giants, the game we'll be seeing in San Diego, obviously) at Giants Stadium since 2005.

Good chance to see if the Chargers are really good (their 4 wins have come against teams with losing records) or the Giants really bad (they've lost their last 3). Also finally, Philip Rivers vs. Eli Manning (the last time they met, Rivers was on the roster but Drew Brees was the Chargers QB).

I remember the snowball game from 95, when the fans pelted the field with snowballs.
Then out of the 50,000 fans at the game that day, one gets photographed and put on the front page news, where the cops seek help from the public to identify him ( He was eventually identified as Jeffery Lange from NJ).

They got the idea from Detroit Lions fans, in 1966.

Quote:
Snowballed
1966 Lion fans pelt coach with snowballs
On the last game of a 4-9-1 season, head coach Harry Gilmer was pummeled by snowballs thrown from irate Detroit fans from the stands at Tiger Stadium. The fans then began chanting "bye bye Harry" as the snowball throwing continued. The Lions would go on to lose the game, 28 - 16 before the homecrowd. After the season, William Clay Ford fired his coach and hired ex Lion linebacker Joe Schmidt as new head coach.
Harry used to like wearing a big cowboy hat while on the sidelines, and I guess the Lions fans simply found it too big of a target to pass up. It was really a shame, because as a college player Gilmer had a solid quarterbacking career, leading Alabama to the 1946 Rose Bowl, where they beat the University of Southern California, 34-14. Yes, it's true, a Rose Bowl winning quarterback gets pelted with snowballs while coach of the Detroit Lions. Actually, local lore has it the snowballs were more ice than snow.

For those of you who like a good laugh, and as an ex-Lions fan I can tell you I do....

This page in particular is quite amusing.

I was at this game - my seats were about 8 rows up directly over the visitors tunnel:

Quote:
Bounty Bowl II

After rumors spread that Eagles coach Buddy Ryan had put a bounty out on Dallas kicker Luis Zendejas during the first meeting two weeks earlier, the Eagles fans were more than rowdy when the rematch was held in Philadelphia.

CBS Sports touted the game as "Bounty Bowl II," complete with wanted posters and the offending players, with the bounty posted, as part of the network's pre-game opening, and it lived up to its expectations as a media event. With NFL commissioner Paul Tagliabue in attendance on gameday December 10, 1989, the Veterans Stadium crew did not remove the snow that had piled up for several days. The volatile mix of beer, plentiful snow, the bounty and the intense hatred for "America's Team" led to the Eagles' notoriously rowdy fans throwing everything within reach. Notable targets included back judge Al Jury, who was knocked to the ground by a barrage of snowballs; Cowboys punter Mike Saxon, who was targeted in the end zone; and Cowboys coach Jimmy Johnson, who was hit with snowballs, ice, and beer as he was hastily escorted off the field by Philadelphia Police. Johnson later called the fans "thugs".

Verne Lundquist and Terry Bradshaw announced the game for CBS, and they spent the afternoon denouncing Eagles fans and dodging snowballs aimed at the broadcast booth (broadcast booths are traditionally open during broadcasts). Even the Eagles' players were struck. As Eagles defensive lineman Jerome Brown stood on the players' sideline seats pleading for the fans to stop throwing things, he too was hit.

Future Pennsylvania governor and Eagles fan Edward Rendell got caught up in the fallout from that game when he admitted to a reporter that he was involved in the bedlam. The then-former Philadelphia district attorney and future mayor and governor had bet another fan $20 that the fan couldn't reach the field with a snowball; Rendell lost. As a result of the chaotic melee, the team added security and banned beer sales for their last remaining home game of the regular season.

The Eagles won the game 20-10

Ironically on that same day, Sam Wyche took control of the situation at the Browns/Bengals game.
