CT_Wiebe very nice , i think the hc5500 is the best choice for those who are seeking the pro8100 also i think its best pj for now to buy , except for who can pay 2300$ i suggest to go for the benq w6000(the brightest and best image till now from the new pjs) or for the infoucs in83 but with price of 5000$, or i found a refirbished sony vpl-vw200 top pj for 4500$ comes with xinon light and excptional colors (15000$ the original price).
muzz : it have the same d6 panels same HQV processor and same lamp also art at pjreviews said that, u can see from the product pdf the specification and similarity between both of them. http://www.mitsubishi-hometheater.co...eet_HC5500.pdf http://www.projectorreviews.com/mits...5500/index.php |

They're not exactly the same... but as Art and others here have indicated, VERY CLOSE:
Pro8100 HQV Reon VX-210 (best HQV makes) Zoom Factor 1.6 (F = 1.8-2.3/f = 23.5mm-37.6mm) (both very strong in this regard with very high quality lenses) Inorganic D6 C2Fine panels type 3 x 0.74” Poly-Si TFT with MLA (same or very similar) 160w lamp (RLC-032; looks different, but same wattage and life) Mits 5500 HQV Reon VX-200 (1 step down) Zoom Factor 1.42 ~ 1.72 (f=24 ~ 29 mm, F=1.7-1.9) (constant larger aperature for less variation in brightness) Inorganic D6 C2Fine panels 0.74 type x 3 Aspect ratio 16:9 with micro lens Transmissive liquid crystal system 160w lamp (VLT-HC5000LP) I didn't get to see an HC5500 when I was demoing, but based on Art's review and the specs, image quality between the two is going to be extremely close. You may give up a few features, but nothing that would sacrifice the over enjoyment. I would have no hesitation in recommending the HC5500 as a comparable replacement, if you can't find a Pro8100. Basically, they're brothers from another mother... ![]() |

Just got another blu-ray player Sony BDP -S360 and it does the following
RGB(16-235) passes BTB and WTW YCbCr 4:4:4 passes WTW only YCbCr 4:2:2 passes WTW only and has issues with Chroma resolution(from Spears and Munsil Blu-Ray) One thing is that RGB requires a very different Contrast/Brightness setting than what I'm used to with YCbCr so I don't have that dialed in yet. Something else I noticed is that the Sony has much richer blacks than my Samsung 2550 and has a little more detail to BD-ROM's. The Samsung has a slightly more cyan cast to the blacks. Also, the Sony noise reduction options works on Blu rays, so the detail settings can be increased in the Pro810O and the noise dialed down with the Sony. novasol good results and the best signal is RGB(0-255) even it didnt pass both btb and wtw but u can find it at most pioneer bluyray players , pc, also at those:
http://www.egreatusa.com/ YCbCr 4:2:2 act as 12-bit color YCbCr 4:4:4 the best signal after RGB(0-255) or full because act as 10 bit color system and that what pro8100 can process 1024line.(10bit) |

I agree that YCbCr 4:2:2 is not a good color space for the Pro8100. As verified by my Spears and Munsil disc, there is a loss of horizontal chroma resolution compared to YCbCr 4:4:4 and RGB(16-235). The Sony is slightly behind the Samsung in Chroma reproduction, but nothing much to worry about. I will be getting a Pioneer 320 to test so I will post my observations compared to the Sony and Samsung. |

I guess we must have cleaned them out then. I don't see any more for that kind of money. When I saw boudas post for the unit at $895, I figured how could you go wrong. A bulb probably costs 300 bucks. Now, I'm going to have to re read the thread and find the tweaks and what not.. that's what it's all about.

Question...
I just hooked up my xbox 360 to the Pro8100 through VGA, (My 360 is not an HDMI model) because I want 1080p for my HD DVDs. For some reason, the black levels I'm getting are terrible compared to my Sony blu-ray player, and worse even than the component 360 inputs that I was using before. No matter what I try, reducing the gamma/brightness/ contrast, nothing works, and the black levels are grey. Also, the projector constantly auto-adjusts the image and slides the picture to the left as soon as I start the 360 up. I don't understand why the two inputs would be so different under the same color settings. I would revert back to the component input, but the resolution is noticeably better through the vga. Anybody have any suggestions for any of that?

Interesting find... I never did get around to trying my BD-P2500 on the Pro8100. It works very well with my Samsung LCD, so chances are that's where it will stay. My PS3 slim looks phenominal played through the Pro8100 and passes BTB and WTW in RGB. Maybe the color mode is impacting some folks black levels, and that's why there have been some complaints? |

EWADE09 connect ur xbox through component, then set ur xbox display to 1080i or 1080p if it accepted ,then go to display setting choose colors to expanded then choose color space to 701 for high definition or 601 for standerd definition, then at ur pro8100 set cobtrast to 39 brightness to 64 color saturation to 44 sharpness to 26. color user1, pic mode cinema. hqv on : detail enhancement to 7 ( for video games) pcs on.
saumil dont worry if GOD wills soon ull have one. ![]() Last edited by bouda78; Today at 10:58 AM.. |
