Factor, are you able to describe the extra detail you see as a result of your calibrated 6020? I'm just trying to understand what to expect after my calibration. Possibly a before and after comparison. Thanks.
I'll do my best basically it reminds me of going from dvd to blurays as far as detail before and after the calibration . The Blacks look more like a inky black "although it was a nice black before " the whites look more white and colors seem to look better although that could be just a accumulation of all the adjustments/calibration . In a nut shell the picture seems to have more depth to it and as far as detail its like looking at a brick wall you can almost feel the texture from just looking at it and actors you can see more imperfections in there complexion lol . Its very hard to describe but I did my best for you

Thanks. I have a better idea of what to expect now. I was worried about spending the extra money for a calibration. At the end of the day, we watch our 5020 every day. It now seems like a worthwhile investment.
Are you interested in hearing my impressions after calibration? So much has been already said about this subject in this thread. I guess I just don't want to repeat what so many have said before me.
Again, thanks for your description. After calibration, I hope the visible pot marks on Meagan Fox's face is not that much of a turn off.
A link to your comments will be included in the list (Post#2) that's linked at the bottom of my post. You might want to check out what other owners have written about having their 9G non-Elite Kuros professionally calibrated. The calibrators are active here at AVS.

Ok. I had the pleasure of having D-Nice calibrate my 5020 recently. First of all, I really can not say enough good things about him. He is extremely professional and very experienced. He is very patient and dully explained everything as he was going through the process. He answered each and every question I threw at him. I was very, very impressed with him overall and would wholeheartedly recommend him to anyone.
The whole process took a couple of hours and he calibrated my Performance and Movie modes. I must admit that I was extremely skeptical in paying the extra money for a calibration. This has been noted on this forum and the other experiences of others on this site helped greatly in my decision to have this done. I want everyone who may be feeling the same way as I did to be rest assured, it is worth every penny and more. What I thought was a great picture using Optimum mode is nothing compared to a calibrated picture. I mean, it is night and day. I have asked others in this forum to help describe the difference. I really can not give this justice. You will just have to trust me and like others before me, it is simply wonderful.
Once the calibration was complete, D-Nice compared it directly to Optimum mode. We did this while watching a golf tournament on my DirecTV. I immediately noticed how the color of the grass looked completely fake in Optimum mode. When he changed it to the calibrated Performance mode, the grass looked completely natural as if you were looking out of a window into your own yard. Whites are now white, colors are spot on, the inky Black is now very inky Black and everything has a very natural pleasing look to it. One of my big issues was regarding how the skin tone on people looked unnatural at best. Way too red for my taste. That is now gone. Skin tones look natural now. Just everything on the screen pops now. Movie mode which I thought was too yellow and dull is now gone. Gone completely. I watched Avitar BD with my family on Saturday night in Movie mode. A completely dark room. No light at all. We all were simply amazed at the extra detail that popped from the screen. The colors were so real!! It was an absolute pleasure to watch this movie.
So, to say that I am pleased is an understatement. The Kuro 5020 just shines now. It is the reason why I purchased this TV over all others. After calibration, it is now coming into its own. Watching TV has never been better.
A special note to D-Nice. Thank you for everything!! I hope the rest of your trip in Chicago was a success. You were well worth the wait my friend. It was a worthwhile investment indeed.
Hello to all. I was watching the Dark Knight on my ps3 and notice that certain scene is shown full screen while others are have the bars on top and bottom. The movie is blueray. Is there a setting somewhere to have ot full screen all the time or it just how they film it?
I just had a part of my 6020 plasma screen go black. A box approx. 1/8 of the screen. the rest of the picture is fine. It is on all inputs. Anyone seen anything like this?

Nope. I wish it was PIP. Looks like one of the regions has failed. Tried unplugging over night, firmware update, and just about everything else. Looks like a service call. Looks like the panel is divided into 8 regions, number 7 is gone. I thank all of you for your input.

Let us know how the service call goes if you could .
