Does anyone know if TMC-HD will be added to the SHOWTIME package or will it be a separate package?

I would imagine that it won't. If you subscribe to TMC then you will receive TMC-HD.
But also we have to wait for an offical announcement, then wait for our local TWC divisions to free up space to add it.

More Confirmation on new HD channels

From LonghornXP

http://www.satelliteguys.us/showthr...?t=51362&page=4

"I called Fred and this is what I was told should be coming soon.

TMC HD within weeks (deal is done so weeks is the launching of it on the various systems).

Cinemax HD is expected to have a deal in a couple of weeks.

ESPN2 HD will be done before the start of baseball.

MTV HD and NGC HD are being worked on but no ETA yet but we might see them before or around the summer.

Starz HD and Starz On Demand will be at least 4th QT of 2006 wait.

I hope this helps you all out."

I read in this months bill that IFC is moving to the TMC package as of March 29th in Charlotte. I'm not sure were it is on other systems. I wonder if that channel reorder will also bring the HD channel to that package.

I have Showtime but have not subscribed to TMC, however I get TMC...so Im guessing maybe these are packaged together? If so, Id hope TMC-HD would be included (sure would make the price for Showtime-HD more worthwhile).

I should have clarified that TMC (non-HD) is part of the Showtime package here in Raleigh. So I'm hoping that TMC-HD will added as part of the Showtime package rather than them breaking off TMC into a separate package.

Wow. You guys are lucky. Not only for the channels you are going to be receiving but also because your Cable Provider actually tells you the status of negotiations. Cox doesn't comment on any channels until they are already added to the lineup.

Also It was said that Universal-HD will be removed after the Olympics in NYC. I know it's because we have no more available bandwidth. Why exactly is the ETA of Switched Digital Video for NYC such a secret. I know that Digital Simulcast has been completed but I can't get information on when SDV will be active in NYC?"

Response:
"cinemax is almost done, tmc is done, and neither wealth nor outdoor are in the works. i don't know the schedule for SDV. the local systems are making that call"

Future HD channel update

ESPN2-HD - hopeful to have espn2hd in time for baseball.
STARZ-HD - End of the year at the earliest
CINEMAX-HD – is almost done
TMC-HD - is done
Wealth TV-HD - are not in the works
Outdoor Channel 2-HD – are not in the works
MHD (MTV) - will take many months to conclude.
National Geographic-HD - No Word
Food Network-HD - Scripps has not yet made us a proposal.
HGTV-HD - Scripps has not yet made us a proposal.
It's been 3 weeks since this post.

No Cinemax HD or ESPN HD. It's one week from the start of baseball.

TWC has ESPN HD. You mean ESPN2HD.

You didnt really think that we would get these channels in such a short amount of time did you? We wont have any new HD channels for atleast a couple of months at the shortest.

What was left out in addition to the reply saying "the local systems are making that call", they also make the call on adding those channels that corporate TW has made deals on. Just because Cinemax and TW have a deal to carry Cinemax-HD, for example, doesn't mean that ALL local divisions will turn it on the following day... or month... or ever.

Yes, I meant ESPN2 HD. We did have SportsNetNY HD added to the IPG last week here in Albany, NY. I started a thread on that. However, there has been no programming shown on the HD channel to date. The first Mets home game will most likely be the 1st HD program.

I had two reasons to post the "no Cinemax or ESPN 2" comments. First, to "bump" the thread and second, to question the validity of the timeline in the original post.

If I don't hear anything by April 1st I will be contacting the VP for more info. I'm trying to give them at least one month from the last info I got from them so they can tie up any loose ends in their contracts & delivery of the content.

keep an eye on the Columbia,SC & Austin,TX threads as I believe those markets have the ablility to add more HD content as soon as it's available.

I just e-mailed Dressler about ESPN2HD being added before MLB opening day (as he and others have led us to believe for months now). Well ... surprise, surprise-- he's changed his tune.

He reports no progress in adding ESPN2HD or the NFL Network. If you're like me and love sports, this might just be the last straw. Come on Verizon Fios!!

I read today that Dish Network SAT has added more HD CHs to their HD package, which to date number about 14 HD Chs (formerly the Vo0m network) they just added a new HD Gaming CH to their HD package.

TWC-NYC HD service is a slow work in progress, all we can do is pray & wait in frustration!

Remember this: expect the worse from Time Warner cable. The massive profits from Time warner cable are used to pay the debt from the failed Time Warner and AOL deal. Time Warner offers the least service for the highest price. I will believe that they are offering ESPN2HD when I can tune it on my TV. The only reason I still have TWC is because I can't get satellite because of the trees on my property. Personally, I can't understand why anyone has TWC.

Let's see!

1. I get 14 HD channels all at full bandwidth 1920x1080 or 1280x720.
2. I get on demand which I don't care about but my wife loves.
3. I have the 8300HD DVR which is perfect for my needs(2 tuners, DD, 160 Gig HD, SATA capability now, and HDMI). Other people hate it but it works for me.
4. And probably the single biggest reason. Road Runner cable modem! 8 gigabits down stream and a very respectable 400 kilobits/sec upstream for $40/month.

All of this isn't cheap $136 a month. Try to get this with satellite. You can't get the true HD and you will never get the internet speeds I get with TWC.

1. I get 14 HD channels all at full bandwidth 1920x1080 or 1280x720.

You get what the network source passes to TWC. TWC then compresses the digital signal. This is exactly what DirecTV does.

2. I get on demand which I don't care about but my wife loves.

I have multiple Tivo units, so I haven't used On Demand, but I could see how some people could like it.

3. I have the 8300HD DVR which is perfect for my needs(2 tuners, DD, 160 Gig HD, SATA capability now, and HDMI). Other people hate it but it works for me.

Personally, I found the SA DVR to be the biggest piece of !!!! I ever used.

4. And probably the single biggest reason. Road Runner cable modem! 8 gigabits down stream and a very respectable 400 kilobits/sec upstream for $40/month.

For me, my friends and my neighbors, Roadrunner has been nothing but problems. Slow speeds and constant disconnects. I switched to Verizon FIOS in November and it has been exactly what Verizon said it would be: 15Mb/s down and 2 MB/s up. I haven't had a single problem. It is also less expensive than RR. I'm also saving money because with FIOS I can use Vonage. My RR connection was so bad, that I couldn't stick with Vonage.

When I had RR, it was advertised at 6Mb/s down (not Gb/s). I usually got around 3 Mb/s down.

All of this isn't cheap $136 a month.

I did the research and DirecTV is cheaper and offers more channels. Especially the channels I want: ESPN2HD, GolTV, ESPN Deportes and Setanta. TWC does not offer any of these channels.

In correct, while TWC might recompress the digital signal, directv downconverts it to 1280x1080i, unlike TWC.

In every instance of comparison, TWC has beaten DirecTV in terms of PQ.

Depending on where you live, Directv *MAY* beat TWC in terms of number of HD Offerings - but not by much.

Can you provide a link to this?

DirectTV was second (missed 1st by one point).

Time Warner Cable was 7th (below industry average).

sorry yes 8 megabits downstream is correct. 8 Gbits per sec definitely would rock. You know what I mean though.

Well TWC is rock solid for Cable modems arround here 8 Mb/sec down and 400 kb/sec is what I get all day every day. Now if FIOS was an option I would probably dump TWC in a heart beat. I would give anything for 2 mb/sec upstream. That is actually enough to stream 540p Hd content over. TWC will have to step it up when FIOS arrives here. That probably won't be for another 2 or 3 years though. You FIOS users are really lucky!

I'm not a mod, but can we steer this thread back on topic? It should be about new HD on TWC, not about internet service or PQ versus D*.
