Thanks again, Amir. I'll give it a go!

Hope your trip to Japan was enjoyable, I usually spend 3-6 months a year in the Tokyo/Yokohama area. It's a very strange place, as much as I enjoy my time there I just feel more comfortable here in Los Angeles.

I've been trying on and off since I got my HD-A1 in May to get either my HTPC's or Dell xps laptop to share their wireless internet connections with it. No go to date. I have tried everything I can think of on both PCs down to manually configuring IPs as well as sharing and no go. The laptop only reports limited LAN connectivity issues. I have tried both a crossover cable and a standard CAT 5. I am getting to the stage where I'm just going to do it by taking the machine to the router or buying a wireless gaming adapter for it.

I ahve a same situation as OZ. Tried regular cable, tried crossover cable, enabled internet connection sharing, and still no go with a wireless connection.

Yep just tried a minute ago. Nothing yet, it's probably time to accept that 2.0 just wasn't meant to happen on the 22nd.

we should learn to be happy with what we have, and not worry about what we dont have. its software, and they may have found a bug that pushed it back. thats why companies dont announce release dates.

just like the fact that until another studio or CE manufacturer annouces support, there will be no support for hddvd than what we have. we can speculate all day long, but than we won't enjoy what we have and when something finally comes, it won't live up to what we expected.

I would guess that for the holidays, if noone announces anything new as far as support by the end of September, it won't be coming this year. thats the hard fact we must face, as discouraging as it may be.

I am happy with what I have but not satisfied. Satisfaction equals complacency and complacency is stagnation.

What did you check and what did you do? Have you installed the file on your player and how do you do this?

My player currently has firmware 1.4

I connected to update my player through the Update option in the player's settings.

It says that my firmware is already up to date.

Where and how did you get your file??

Call me an idiot. I burned it to a CD and put in in my HD A1.
It asked proceed with the update. I said yes.

The Update percentage is not at 45% displayed on the HD A1....

Thank you Rich! I'm just about as impatient or like minded as you are. As soon as I saw the file, I burned the CD, and I was going to update the player now ... but since you've already started, I can wait a little bit and hear your first report. If all goes well, I'll update right away.

It could also be a beta tester that leak the info on HDbeat that now wants to prove he is right! Call me an optimist.

Yeah, I'm gonna wait for the legit download. I'd hate to be stuck with a possible Beta 2.0 while everyone else has the final version.

Amir says it's not coming out today 'either'. The guy loves to tease. He said it's coming out 'soon' -- What does that mean? Is that in geological time? I know he can't say exactly when, but he could be a TAD more specific.

Would you mind sending me a PM under your real account, Mr. Mysterious? It would sure put my mind at ease knowing that this file I'm downloading isn't going to damage my $500 piece of equipment.

or it could be a hacker spreading an hd-dvd virus that makes BD look better than HD-DVD...

I downloaded it but I will wait for another brave soul to try this. I am an ocean away from the mainland and don't want to have to fedex my dead player to bestbuy.

The nrg is indeed bigger than the previous ones so At least we can guess it is not just a renamed 1.2 or 1.4
