Hopefully we'll see more and more classics on Blu-ray.

I may be wavering on purchasing this Blu-ray set if there is no standard version release day in sight come release day.

Good for the Mods! They acted so quickly, I never saw the offending posts. Why, at this late date, there is still such hostility to Blu-ray puzzles me because it is now the only game in town. It's also pretty damn good.

The Third Man is another great B&W movie that is being released on the Dec 16th, I have ordered this and can't wait to watch that one.

The HD DVD isn't the super duper galactic collector's edition release.

to be fair it's NOT just a disc...

Included in this very special edition of Hollywood's most unforgettable classic is a bonus disc of the featurette "Jack Warner: The Last Mogul" - a rare glimpse into the public and private life of one of the most respected names in the entertainment industry. This giftset also includes the following beautiful bonus collectibles: 48-Page Photo Book, 10 One-Sheet Reproduction Cards, Archival Correspondence, and Exclusive Passport Holder and Luggage Tag.

And it's $5 more than the DVD edition.

If anyone wants all of the packaging (box, inserts, etc.), I'm selling everything but the two discs and the digipak that holds them for $10 plus $5 shipping. PM me if you're interested.

The movie looks great.

Just a friendly bump because I have a question. The 1-disc edition supposedly came out on Tuesday, 9/15. Even Blu-ray.com still has that date. Since it's now 9/17, it should've came out already. So, maybe I'm going nuts or something, but I don't see this up at Amazon. I only see the expensive Collector's Edition. Anyone see the 1-disc edition at Amazon.com? If so, can you please link me? Maybe I'm losing my mind or something because this is very unusual for Amazon to omit this.

It's out. I already have the collector's edition but I did see it tuesday at my local HMV when I bought Wolverine (and the new, excellent album from Muse...) I have no idea why it's not yet available directly fromamazon.

Oh good. It's not just me then. It's strange why Amazon didn't list it. Usually they list things before an official announcement is made, like what they did with "The Wizard of Oz" and "Gone With The Wind." The only reason I can think of is that Amazon wants people to buy the Collector's Edition instead.

Is HMV still around, BTW? Practically every store here in NYC has closed.

I ordered the 1 disc version of Casablanca from Amazon.ca a few weeks ago. It is still in my queue as it will be sent along with Pierrot le Fou that has a street date of Sept 22. (I have opted for the free delivery). I usually wait after street date before ordering from Amazon.ca as Arch...ault (local Montréal store that has been around for decades) often has them cheaper and I can take advantage of the 10% 60 plus discount every Monday.

Amazon.ca has a one-day sale of the Collector's boxset for $27.95 today.

I bit the bullet and ordered on their one day sale. The single disc one is $22, so for the extra $5 I'd rather have the collector's set.

Looks like a reissue with different packaging to me. All of those BDs are already out, including the non-UCE Casablanca (though Amazon stubbornly refuses to list it). DVD Times is incorrect.

Just watched the Blu for the first time on my 100 inch screen and I noticed a lot of halo like EE effects....

^ My HD DVD version looks great, I may have to get the BD from Netflix so I can compare.
