1. What other channels? Did I miss an announcement?
2. Will I get the additional channels if I do not get the Lifetime HD channel which I believe indicates that my area has not been upgraded yet?

More channels is great news!

That's great news.

I was just hoping that since locally based Landmark Comm., which (AFAIK) still own TWC, would get the HD version in here sooner than later.

I've been thinking of changing over to Cox for a while because who knows when FIOS is coming to Ghent. I've been with the execrable Earthlink for longer than I want to admit. Do they really enforce the caps though? Any idea, Occasio? 40 gigs a month is nothing!

I've never checked to see how much I use, but we have an Apple TV and rent at least 1 - 2 High-Definition movies a week as well as download TV shows. I've never seen metion of a cap and never had any overages.

I dont think this has hit our area yet. They have not told CSR's so if it was to hit someone's bill no one would be able to explain it. I'll do some digging.

Which of the above are considered "Most of them"? We still don't have Lifetime HD in Yorktown. If MrJustAGuy's 'tentative' schedule is correct we should have the upgrade and Lifetime HD before midnight tonight. I will cut you some slack since you did not publish this schedule - you only stated that most would have the upgrade before the next batch of new HD channels. So 'most' of us should expect to see the upgrade before the 24th?

OK I would have to say when I said most of them, that is in reference to the shear number of subscribers. Most subscribers live in VB and Norfolk. I'll stand by that schedule though.

***Fee Increase

Effective July 1, 2008, the Right of Way (ROW) Fee for Cable and / or Telephone customers increases to $0.72.

The Right of Way (ROW) fee is charged by Cox on behalf of the Virginia Department of Transportation. The fee pays for telephone company access to the rights-of-way of public property.

2nd Fee Increase

The Federal Universal Service Fund (USF) fee will increase from 11.3% to 11.4%, effective July 1, 2008. Cox will charge all Cox Digital Telephone customers a USF fee based on 11.4% of their interstate and international services, including the FCC Access fee. This change will result in a slight increase in customers' bills and will vary depending on customers' use of interstate and international services.

All local and long distance telephone companies are required by the FCC to contribute to the Federal Universal Service Fund. The fund helps provide schools, library, community-based organizations and low-income customers with affordable telecommunications services.

Forgot to announce it to technical, too. I got ripped into Sunday for not knowing which channels were coming, or that there was even a change happening here. Only change we were told of was some channel reassignments in NoVA.

You guys get all the good info first. :P

As Occasio posted earlier, USA HD, SciFi HD, Bravo HD and CNBC HD are coming. We even made Engadget HD earlier this week because of the news.

Anyone notice that Starz HD now says STRZ1H instead of STRZHD like it used to on the guide. Are they preparing another Starz HD channel? Might be nothing, but is there something that we don't know?

I noticed the same thing a few days ago. Starz offers four HD channels plus HD on demand. Perhaps the new moniker is to let people know they offer more than one.

Those monikers are set by Cox. I truly don't have any additional info though. It's not the only channel to have the name changed on our guide. It is not the only channel to change. Almost all of the channels changed (multi-channels). Don't forget just because I named 4-5 new channels doesn't mean there is not a chance for others to be added before then or soon after.

I appreciate the heads up, occasio, but those channels are more garbage in my opinion. I cancelled my cable TV programming and wont re-up until Cox has at least the HDNETS. I want more HD movie channels, with the films being presented in OAR.

Some of us have been waiting a while for those channels. Sucks you don't like them, but they're hardly "garbage."

HDNets

vs

BSG, Eureka, Top Chef, Proj Runway, Burn Notice, Starter Wife & Army Wives.

I'll take these. My next pick is FX, what about everyone else?

FX would be great - but are any of their shows filmed in HD? If so sign me up!

I called to order a cablecard for my tivo, finally. Spoke with a very amusing csr who tried to educate me that hd channels aren't digital. They are much clearer! sigh...

Anyway, the csr was concerned about whether I needed digital cablecards or hd cablecards. After I said I needed them for a tivo hd, she told me I needed standard cablecards. She also told me that cox does not and has never had m-cards (even checked with her supervisor), so I have to pay for two.

- is there some possibility of getting the wrong type of cablecard?
- does cox really not have m-cards?
- am I going to have to pay the ridiculous installation fee twice for these cards?

Thanks,
Bruce
