Ever since I can remember, Universal HD was on the "gold package" on TWC Mid-Ohio, meaning you had to pay a few extra bucks to get it. However, it was still available for free throughout that entire time, both on the digital cable box and with cable hooked straight in.
But this week, the QAM feed of it is encrypted, and the digital cable box now says you need to call TWC to subscribe to it. So the days of free Universal HD are over with. (On a related note, using the QAM, you could get ESPN2 free for a couple of months, but they also encrypted that, so it's no longer available.) Anyone else ever get "free" HD channels when you weren't supposed to? |

Local issue, please post in local topic.
Although unfortunate when it happens, this issue is really old news. It’s been happening ever since cable started carrying HD.
