Jenkintown, PA - Verizon FiOS

Does anyone have any news about FiOS internet and TV service in Jenkintown, PA? I notice on the Verizon site that there is still a "future notification" page that loads when you query in a Jenkintown address/phone number.

When I ask Verizon about service in Jenkintown they seem to reply along the lines of "a few more months"... its been more than a year that this has been going on.

I realize that the delay is Jenkintown borough not approving the Verizon FIOS franchise agreement. I also know that Abington township, much like Jenkintown, did not initially approve of Verizon but has since acquiesced and has been added to FiOS' "Approved Franchise" list.

Therefore, could someone tell me if Jenkintown borough has agreed to FIOS' as an approved franchise in Jenkintown? I have tried contacting the borough for comment through their own "Contact Us" e-mail page: jenkintownboro.com/contact.htm. I have received absolutely no response. When should people from Jenkintown expect service (or will they ever)?

Thanks.

I work at the Verizon workcenter in Hatboro, and we cover Jenkintown. The franchise is supposed to be signed by the end of June. We do have FiOS available in some of areas on the 100-200 blocks of Cedar and Walnut Streets, along Washington Ln and Greenwoods. There are two distribution blocks on Walnut St. They are at the top of the pole and have a beige color. Currently there are about 400 households that are FiOS available, but only for voice and data services.

It is October and still no FIOS, any news?

Hey gardnerej,
Thanks for the response; any news as to when FIOS will come to Jenkintown? Did they sign the agreement like you said?

Thanks,
Sam

I just called Verizon and they said that FIOS is available for Abington Township including Jenkintown (TV and internet). It's about time!

a10thunder,

What address (or approximate address) did you give Verizon when they told you FIOS is available? I am near Rydal Ave in Jenkintown, and Verizon still says nada.

Thanks,
Bill

FIOS in Glenside, PA

A co-worker of mine who lives just off Mt. Carmel Ave in Glenside now has FIOS.

Gardnerej,

Any guess where in Jenkintown they are rolling it out next? Does fiber deployment stop during the winter months? Can I help ?... I'll bring the coffee!

Verizon ran fiber lines around Alverthorpe Park so all the neighborhoods around that area has it.

Fios in Glenside (Cheltenham)

Is anybody aware of Fios rollout in the Cheltenham parts of Glenside, or the status of Fios in Cheltenham in general? I live in the wedge between Easton Rd. and Limekiln. Man, I'd love to get rid of Comcast.

Also, I understand that the gray boxes with green lights are fiber optic power boxes. Are those Comcast's or Verizon's?

Thanks,
AP

Slightly off topic but I'm in Glenside and they ran the street wires months ago. Anybody know when we can get hooked up from the street?

Have they wired your street yet? You should be seeing a bright new wire just below the power line.
