Los Angeles Area: Which Is A Better Bet-Time Warner, Dish or DirecTV?

I am sure this has been discussed many times before. I have Time Warner and the quality is great, but I can't help but notice all of the new HD channels being added to Dish and DirecTV. How is the compression on those systems compared to cable in the Los Angeles area?

Thanks!

Direct tv is the best so far go with direct tv the most HD channels

go with direct tv my friend

Direct tv has the most HD channels avalable dish and time warner dont compare plus cable sucks they only offer you like 10 hd channels dish like around 40 and direct tv is 92 hd channels

I was a Direct TV subscriber ever since they sent up their first bird. I just went to Dish a month ago. Will never go back.

For me, it's not about how MANY HD channels there are, but WHICH ones they are, and how good is the PQ on them. For me, Dish wins hands down..........and, their HD DVR/tuner, the ViP722 is phenomenal, and its free.

Very correct, one of the biggest differences with the satellite companies is the cost of the box. One thing to know about DirecTv is the HD Receiver is $99.00 plus $6 a month lease and the HD DVR is $199 plus $6 a monthe lease fee. Now this does not apply to the first HD or HD/DVR receiver for now, but it does apply to the second, third, and so on. Also even if you go to Bestbuy and buy the receiver it is NOT YOURS, YOU ARE PAYING $199 or $99 TO LEASE AND USE THE EQUIPMENT ON DIRECTV'S SERVICES. In other words if and/or when you cancel your service you will need to return the receiver.

So you have to calculate the receiver cost plus lease fee, against the monthly receiver charges of the other services (cable, dish). Look at how much you spend in a year just on receiver fees.

Just trying to provide you with the most information as possible so you know what you are getting into.
