Taking Lives HD DVD

Hi, i received this today, look legit, but thought the Japanese version got pusponed??

no Japanese language on the casing or menus.

Just flicking through the film now and picture looks good.

Video Codec - VC-1
audio - Dolby Digital Plus

The front cover does match the few (and very small) examples of artwork I've seen for it.

Reportedly, this was canceled by Warner.

What is the full UPC code? I cannot read the back cover from your picture due to the glare.

From where did you buy it?

Pop it in a regular DVD player and see if it's legit or not.

If it's legit, I'm jealous! Where did u get it? I'd love a copy.

It doesn't look like any Japanese Warner release, all of them have Japanese text in the back cover and in menu, and the insert in the pic is a U.S. insert, Japanese releases have different inserts. This looks like a U.S. release based on the cover papers and the insert, it must be a rare one.

The Japanese release was definitely cancelled by Warner after being postponed without any release date. If there ever was any sample of the Japanese release with final artwork it would certainly have the back cover in Japanese and the menu too.

What are the audio and subtitle tracks on the disc?

Do pop-up menus work while the movie is playing?

Also of interest is the Warner launch 2006 insert.

I believe it's real, btw. Makes you wonder what else they actually pressed and never released.

Would you care to share where you got it from? I found one copy on e-bay, but the bid is already at $83.00. That's crazy!!

Yeah, it seems the seller had a few copies, sold the first few with a Buy It Now option, and after getting deluged with a bunch of email requests from the exposure on this thread and one on Highdefdigest.com, wised up and put this copy up on a 7 day open auction. My bid got topped out in the $40s.

I would love to get a copy of this but I'm not crazy enough to pay that kind of money. The SD version looks good enough on my HD-XA2 for that price.

I was lucky and just received mine for the original Buy It Now price of GBP 12.99 (about $25.86 US).

It looks completely legit.

Here are a few scans of mine in the shrink-wrap:

$204.49 with four days left! That is one hell of an expensive movie!

Esp. since once it comes out on Blu is will be worth $5. Just because it's rare now, doesn't mean it will retain any value what so ever later on.

You'd think some of those bidders might remember that the movie isn't very good.

Where did the British bought one come from?

How many other titles were pressed but not released?

My copy came in today as well. I am thrilled to have a copy of it. And to the poster up a few that said when it comes out on blu it won't be worth $5 it will still be worth (at current market prices $300+ since you don't have to buy a Blu player to wrap around it to make it work (this IS the HD DVD section of the boards so most folks here already have HD players)

Ratings for this movie are pretty poor but the plot sounds really interesting to me. I like thrillers. So I guess this will be put on my 'want list' and I'll wait for a cheap copy to show up SOMEWHERE.

I guess will be a good novelty HD DVD one that you would leave in its plastic, frame it and hang it in your HT room. Then just watch in on Blu Ray when it comes out.
