Awesome, I love this movie. Just rewatched it for the first time on DVD about a year ago, having practically worn out my VHS when I was young. Nice to see it at least has SOME special features... I had a neon-green animated Beetlejuice lunchbox when I was a kid, a testament to how much I loved the movie.

Sweet! It's about time, 20 years to be exact!

The orignal DVD looks bad. There is no way that this won't be a giant upgrade even if it's mediocre by Blu-Ray standards.

To the OP it's Bettlejuice! Beetlejuice! Beetlejuice!

Hells yeah. I watched this all the time when I was a kid. This and Scissorhands, they are dark and twisted. But even as a child I loved them. Must buy.

How much longer until we have the entire Burton library on BD? What's left Pee Wee and a few others? Warner is taking care of the Chocolate factory and Batman.

What's left:

Batman (will probably hit BD when The Dark Knight does)
Batman Returns (ditto)
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
Ed Wood
Mars Attacks
Nightmare Before Christmas (coming this fall)
Pee-wee's Big Adventure
Sweeney Todd (US release; import already available)

Since it's Warner, it'll be VC-1.

Love the Harry Belafonte songs in this movie. And one of Danny Elfman most iconic themes.

Winona Ryder was great, and Michael Keaton was at the top of his game. If they ever change old movies into 3D, this one would be a truely surreal experience.

I would love to see Mars Attacks also but it's probably the least popular (next to Sweeney Todd).

I too get a hoot out of Mars attacks. WB execs must've crapped themselves when they saw what he spent all the $ on...

Sweeney Todd, least popular? No way. Mars Attacks, sure, but not Sweeney.

haha, certainly one of the more ridiculous movies ever made, but I was kind of amused by it. I hope they release it. Glad they are getting to beetlejuice.

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory though.... ugh. It's torture enough just to see a few frames of in the previews!

Actually Sweeney Todd ($52,882,759) did do a little better than Mars Attacks ($37,754,208) but both are box office bombs.

Sweeney only cost 50 million to make and grossed an additional 100 million overseas. Add in TV sales, home video, it turned a nice profit.

This was pushed back 'til October.... early impressions won't be available for a few more weeks I'd assume.

Just got my copy today September 29th way cool the video looks great a bit of DNR perhaps but after 2 minutes I didn't notice at all the colors popped like never before, the audio defaults to DD but a quick hit on the remote brings up glorious TDHD and you can tell immediately the highs are crisp, the low end much improved separation I've not heard before in this movie. WB has screwed up from time to time but they scored with Beetlejuice! for a 20 year old movie I'm very happy. comes with a CD sampler of 6 tracks from the movie and a fold-out booklet called "the beginners guide to seeing ghosts" music only on the movie is fun, the cartoons are SD not not all that great imho
if your wondering I ordered from WB pretty cool 8 days early :-)

Yeah, we got our copies super early, but as someone who actually pays attention to street dates I put them in the back room, unlike whichever BBV you were at

Well, the computer is charging $32.99 for it right now, so I'm sure it'll go down to 26-29.99 before its street date. Prices sometimes are really wonky but iron out the day before something releases. Especially BDs (Other Boleyn Girl was 45.99 until it's release date in our computer!!)

I haven't had a chance to watch my copy yet, but DVD Talk gave the PQ a 4 out 5. I'll post my impressions if I get a chance to watch it this weekend.
