Like to nominate: Curse of the Golden flower

I didn't see excessive DNR or EE. Overall a quality transfer with film like grain thru out the movie. Actually pleasantly surprised by the overall PQ. Green light for me...

I rented "...Red October" as I have never seen it before, but I will definitely pick it up down the road (on sale).

It's been years since I've seen Patriot Games and Clear and Present Danger as I've got those in my Netflix queue. However, I've read that Patriot Games looks very processed, so beware. Clear and Present Danger is said to look much better.

Nomination - We Own the Night.....stunning and I did not see any DNR. Every little high frequency detail was there. It doesn't get any better than this.

Thanks to those who were nominating this week but it seems all the posts have been lost due to the problems AVS has experienced.

Please re-nominate again as i can't remember which films were added to the list.

I believe THFRO is already on the mainlist. Vantage point , and The world's fastest indian is no longer on the nomination list, pls update.

I re-watched Patrio games and believe this should not be on the main list or even the nomination list. The DNRs was not as excessive as in First blood (less consistent DNR is what I'd describe it ), but I did notice alot of artifacts, scratches starting around 1:04 range. Therefore, the transfer is not up to par at all...

I have put Vantage Point, The World's Fastest Indian and Doomsday back on the nomination list along with Into The Blue which i nominated.

I added The Hunt For Red October to the main list as i recall it having several votes and also added The Bank Job to the Digital Film List.

I added First Blood and Dark City to the excessive DNR not recommended for viewing list.

Please keep the votes coming and check out the nomination list and if you agree with the nomination then second it and i will add it to the main list or if you disagree then state your reasons and i will add a note stating it has one objection ( or more )

I have added Doomsday, Black Book and The Water Horse - Legend Of The Deep to the main list as all have had previous votes.

May i strongly recommend The Rock which is also on the main list....Absolutely excellent film with a stunningly good HD presentation and it contains all the extra's from the Criterion collectors edition DVD.....It's hilarious watching Ed Harris lose the plot during the outtakes.....I spotted some mild EE near the end of the film but it doesn't detract from what is a first rate detailed film like presentation for 99.5% of the film.

Keep the nominations and votes coming and remember you can negative a release too.....Check the list on Page 1 of this thread.

I'd give votes to the following nominations from page 1-

Hellboy- Director's Cut
We Own The Night
30 Days of Night
The Other Boleyn Girl

I found each to be very film like and the Blu transfer was very good.

Sony 46W3000 (1080P) from 5.5 feet using Sony 300S via HDMI connection.

btw- I love this thread! Great job Foxy and gang...

I concur with that! What an outstanding transfer, consistent film grain thru out the movie and no visible EE or DNR.

Gratuitous B. Hodson pic-

Like to nominate- 3:10 to Yuma

Pretty decent transfer overall, film grain can be seen thru out the movie. There were some EE on a few shots (outdoor), and few artifacts (I really need to stop pausing so often). But not enough to detract from the movie..

Yah for the most part it looks great but according to the EE/DNR thread found in the HDTV section it has one major problem....Jaggies....Can be seen throughout the film....I'm not the sort of person who notices jaggies very well but apparently it's there...Y and UV out of sync. Color fringing and aliasing at edges which cause jaggies.

But for that problem it would be great for the list and i would concur.

Negative nomination for Harold & Kumar Go To White Castle. Have not watched the movie all the way through yet, but there is a consistent amount of DNR which results in waxy looking textures, particularly skin textures.

Blech, New Line strikes again!

Just looking for another opinion here..

Michael Clayton looked awesome (lots of grain, lots of high frequency detail) in 95% of the scenes, but there were a few scenes that looked scrubbed and grain free.

I watched Shutter this weekend and I think it deserves a nomination. I didn't see any EE or macroblocking, & film-grain and fine detail were intact. Looked very good on my 96 inch, 1080p screen.

Thanks for those negatives and positives....I'll be adding them to the list tomorrow and also adding Escape From New York to the not recommended list as it really is bad enough to warrant it.

I'll be updating these lists every Friday and Tuesday and maybe at weekends too so if anyone nominates or negatives something don't worry your opinion will be counted. Please check page one and add a second vote to something on the nomination list or a negative and remember to check the seating distance chart folks.

I would like to nominate The Life before Her Eyes. One of the few newer movies I have watched lately that were shot anamorphic, complete with grain and lots of high frequency detail. Anybody should have a look at that disc (not sure though if they will like the movie ).

There is also a trailer at the beginning of the dics for the new movie with Robert DeNiro and John Turturro "What Just Happened" that also looks very promising. I will keep an eye out for that one, too.

Has anybody seen Night Watch yet? I have the import, and they were quite heavy handed with the DNR. The original DVD has quite a bit of grain on it, that added a "grittiness" to the feel of the movie. Oddly, the sequel, Day Watch, has grain.

Haven't seen Night Watch on Blu Ray ( Only on the television - Hopefully others can pipe in )

I have added The Life Before Her Eyes, Michael Clayton, and Shutter to the nomination list.....I will add Harold And Kumar ( sequel ) to the not recommended list if i get a few more negatives for it.

What are people's opinons on the original The Fantastic Four and The Chronicles Of Narnia the last of which i felt was very good but i wondered if there was some minor DNR applied ?

I would like to make a nomination for Smart People.

On other sites I have read (unfortunate) comments about the photography and artistic choices not being to the general viewers liking and I think this pandering to the uninformed is sooooo wrong, so here is my nomination. Grain is visible to a degree that I have to commend Disney for having the guts to keep it like that and risk negative remarks from some not so videophile reviewers and EE never bothered me either. So this is another very nice transfer from Disney, not your number one demo title but looks very faithful to the source, thanks Disney !
