Expanding storage for DCT-3412, and/or transferring to PC?

Can one add capacity to the Motorola DCT-3412 DVR? It runs out of space very quickly, especially with HD programming.

Alternatively, can one backup recordings on the DVR to a hard drive or transfer files to PC?

Also, does Comcast have any DVRs with more capacity they might offer? The Comcast area is Short Hills, NJ 07078.

Thanks. Is this the thread you're talking about? That seems to only apply to live TV, not recorded shows.

Is there some way to backup recorded shows for this DVR?

JVC D-VHS VCR: DT100U, DT5U, 40K, 30K. All have firewire connectivity to active firewire port on Moto DVR's, and offloading content from DVR to DVHS tape works perfectly.

Only problem... I think JVC has stopped manufacturing VCRs.

So you need to find one somewhere on your own (possibly used), and it might not be easy (nor cheap).

I have two of them (neither is for sale). Can't live without them. DT100U even has built-in ATSC tuner for OTA HD recording and HDMI connector to HDTV. Works perfectly with my Moto DCH-3416.

What about transferring from one DCT-3412 to another? I have two, and one is empty while the other's always full.

As DSperber mentioned, DVHS can work very good. I'm using 3 JVC DVHS units, a 5U, and two 40k recorder/players.

Another option is to get one of these if you would like to go straight into the PC.

I've been using one with great results. However, the 5.1 channel audio issue is being cleaned up as we speak. Worth a look if you want to transfer from your DVR to PC.

Here are the main threads for this unit.
