Sanyo PLV-1080HD Cheapest 1080P going!

This is the cheapest 1080P projector and the first 1080P that Best Buy has ever sold nationally in non-Magnolia Brick and mortar stores. This unit is going to open the door to 1080P for a ton of people that have been holding out for high res in this price range. I'm pretty excited about it. Has any one seen it in action yet?

Holy crap, that is cheap. Does the 12% coupon apply to projectors?

I'm sure its gonna go lower later on. Yes, the 12% coupons should work on all non-sale, non-power price items plus reward zone points.

Keep in mind that the old Z2000 has non organic panels and the new projector has organic panels. I would take the Z2000 over the new projector.

That's what an extended warranty is for, but doesn't Sanyo warranty their projectors for 3 years anyway. Most people upgrade every 3 years or so.

Yes, but if they are selling for the same price and have the same warranty, why would you not get the better projector?

Are they exactly the same, except the panels?

What's the difference between organic and non organic panels?

If the PLV-1080HD and Z2000 have the same throw distance Do you think I can squeeze out a 100" at 10' 7"?

PLV-1080HD is the same thing as the PLV-Z700. Search for that, and you will find everything you need to know...

I just checked the PLV-Z700 projection calculator and I think I can get a 100" screen using a 1.88 zoom with the porjector 10' 7" from the screen.

And its good to know I can just hop into the PLV-Z700 thread and learn all I can about this projector... wow! only $1599 for a 1080p projector

Organic panels = possible vertical banding...

I thought that the industry had made that a thing of the past... unless these new organic panels have taken a major leap forward.

Saw that.Great buy.The organic panels should not be a deal breaker.Read what PC said about them and Art.Blacks are not great and this fp is really made for smaller screens 100in or less.110 if you had a HP screen maybe. But wow what a price for someone just starting out.

Consumer electronics buyers in general will really have a tough decision to make this holiday season with respect to timing of deal purchases. In light of the gloom and doom forecast for the 4th quarter some retailers may begin to dump inventory in advance of Black Friday, while others may reserve their best pricing for BF and into December. However, $1,499 for a 1080P projector is hard to pass up and if you throw in a 10-12% off coupon it's really a killer deal. Decisions, decisions....

One possibility is to defuse price match (although I don't know if BB does it). If BB has a unique model number, they can always have the lowest price on that model (since nobody else sells it!)

Other manufactures do this as well.
Like Samsung has the 4065 LCD which is sold at most CE stores but Best Buy has their own version of the same LCD with a model number of 4066.

They do this to stop price matching, say if bestbuy has it on sale then you can only get it at best buy and not anywhere else because they don't have that model number
