Hmmm, that does change things. I was only looking to spend $1500 at most for a 46 inch LCD. The 650/630 were my choices. But it sounds like the 2009 650 model will be closer to $2000. I could afford that but is it worth it???
I have the 46a650, and I recall them starting around $2600. After a couple months they could be had for around 2300. Nothing like you can find the tv for now, around 1600. I'd guess the 2009 models to follow a similar path and will most likely start off at 30-50% more than the best deal now for the current line.

I would get the 08 models for the fact that most of the problems been fixed. When the 08's frist came out they had purple haze, halo,IR problems. Why be a stunt dummy. If you wait 6 months after the 09's come out to see how they are ect... Then you will wait till the 2010's come out, It's never going to end. Bye what you like, then STAY OFF THIS SITE AND ENJOY YOUR TV. The worse thing to do is buy a tv and then keep visting this place,

I do have concerns about any new bugs that come out, but generally don't fixes carry forward from one model year to another?

I've decided to just purchase the 2008 46 inch 630, but the price has really jumped on Amazon. Damn!!

Any idea why? Where can I get the 630 for $1300-$1400?

Legit places? Vann's or B&H Photo-Video.

I'd jump on it pretty quick. Lots of TVs are starting to go out of stock or are going up lots in price.

B&H has the LN64A630 for $1399, free shipping and no tax. The shipping is via ground (i.e. NOT white glove). Makes me a little nervous given the price and size of the purchase. Anyone have experience purchasing a big TV from B&H? I would prefer buying from Amazon but the price has jumped quite a bit for the 630.

Currently i have a HLP5063WX/XAA samsung tv but my hdmi plugin quit working so i can't do much with it except watch tv. It's still got a couple months left on the warranty so i'm waiting for a tech guy to call me backto come fix it. Was going to buy a 55A950 (i want atleast a 55") but like most i saw that the newer tvs are coming out later in the year and can't decide if i want to wait or go ahead and purchase the A950 now. Right now i have about 5k for a tv but by the time the newer ones coming out i would probably be willing to spend more if they cost more. Finding this almost as annoying as upgrading my computers

As the original thread poster, I STILL haven't made a purchase. The 630 prices haven't dropped at all.

Does anyone know if the 2009 CCFL models use the same technologies as the 2008. In other words, the kinks have been worked out already? If so, I would be inclined to wait for the 2009 LN46B650, since the A650 has pretty been the top selling LCD.

Thoughts?

I live in NYC and have bought stuff from them, not big TV though. They are a legit store, authorized dealer. I have to pay sales tax, so I avoid that store purely for $$ reasons. Otherwise I would buy from them without hesitation if the price is right.

Looks like Amazon has the new B650 avail for pre-order:
http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-LN46B6...6239538&sr=1-1

Selling at MSRP.

So with the new 2009 B650 coming out, it's probably safe to assume the 2008 A650 will be discontinued. But what about the A630? Will that continue to be avail?

I also saw a box at BB yesterday for the LN40B550, but the TV was not on the floor yet. Anyone see it yet?

Could anyone tell me how the B650 price compares to the A650 when it first came out?

I was just at B&H

The sales guy told me the 46B550 is going to be priced 1499.00 available in a few weeks.

They currently have the 46A550 on sale. It was 1,299.00.

Anybody know what the difference is going to be? Should i wait?

Also the 46A650 is on sale for 1,399.00. Is this the way to go?

Need help...i just don't know what i am doing

looking at the feature list of the b650, the only thing that jumps out is MKV support for USB. this is good for people who download MKV rips of tv shows. but then again who really needs USB support for MKV videos when you can just connect your PC to the TV and use VLC as the video player.

the v shaped bottom of the b650 looks pretty bad. i was planning on buying an a650 but i'll wait for reviews and see if the picture quality of the b650 is drastically better than the a650. if not, then the $600 extra for the b650 isn't worth it.

Also wondering on a650 vs b650

Was zeroing in on ln46a650 and bang, out comes the b650.

Price difference is significant -- $1500 or less vs. $2000.

Can't find anything that discusses the differences except the above, which is all greek to me.

Watch mostly sports, HBO, etc.

So am I going to notice a $500 difference in the two sets?

TIA.

http://stadium.weblogsinc.com//engad...-LCD-HDTVs.pdf

The new LED-backlit models are the 6000/7000/8000 series:

http://www.engadgethd.com/2009/01/07...led-lcd-hdtvs/
http://stadium.weblogsinc.com/engadg...-LED-HDTVs.pdf

So my assumption was that the LED-backlit models would be expensive, whereas the 2009 CCFL models would be comparably priced w/ the 2008's. If so, I would rather buy the newer 2009 model.

But if you are saying that the LED-backlit models might be comparably priced, then I might consider those.

Either way, it sounds like I should wait for the 2009 models ya?
Thanks for the links.
