Call ol' Barn a doomsday soothsayer or something, but 8 seconds
for every BD is fast. Too fast 2 furious maybe ? Even most BD players today loading time varies from one BD to the next, but 8 seconds consistently every time ? Has anyone confirm if this world record time is actually for BDs and not DVDs? ![]() ![]()

Why don't you track down a LG BH200. That'll play all your PAL/NTSC, region free for DVDs and Blu-rays.

I was interested in the JVC but I couldn't dig up a lot of information about it online. I went with a Panasonic BD80 instead.
The BP1 is a nice looking unit and has a nice feature set... http://av.jvc.com/product.jsp?modelI...hId=169&page=2

Yeah, AVCHD and fast boot are appealing, I cannot find a single credible review of it. Hopefully that will change now that it is shipping. (and hopefully the reviewer will own a stopwatch)
This is the first JVC BD player I have seen, is this their first model worldwide or just a US entry? (Panasonic and the others went through a nice learning curve, it would raise my confidence if JVC has been shipping elsewhere rather than learning on U.S.) |

Could someone please
Upon receiving this machine, take some up close pics of the front and back panels? Also, could you give your impressions on load times and how the advanced codecs sound when bitstreamed? How is the remote, what does it look like and if the player plays Twilight and any of the other problem discs? Gee, I don't ask for much do I? LOL!
This is a really nice looking player from the limited shots I have seen.Last edited by Scoob; 04-10-09 at 12:18 PM.. Reason: spelling |

Based on the setup menu, front and back pictures it looks like a LG's BD300/BD370 clone or at least based on the same reference board design.
By the way here is the user's manual http://books.jvcservice.com/booklist.asp?Model=xv-bp1 |

I got it as soon as it came out...I have only played a small handful of titles, twilight, Death Race, Madagascar 2, some burned DVD's, transporter 3...
Load time varies, It has loaded as fast as 3 secs., and as long as 15 for Transporter 3...but no hiccups or errors at all as of yet. I am using a Coax cable to connect to my receiver...audio is awesome, and although I only have 5.1, I am hearing much higher quality effects from my rears. The picture quality is amazing....HDMI to my JVC DLP~ I was worried that I bought the wrong plyer, since I had my heart set on the Panasonic, but I paid like $224 for it, so it was a steal. The only gripe is with the remote...no lights, no glow in the dark..that stinks...other than that...buy it! |
