Sim2 Grand Cinema HT6000

I received a card a couple days ago for Sim2 at CEDIA. It mentions the new HT6000, MSRP $120,000 (IIRC).

Is this the HT5000 on Lumis steriods? I'd think it to be the machine to have (resources available of course)

I didn't want to bother my Sim2 contacts, I'm sure they are busy getting ready for CEDIA. Anyone have the scoop on this box yet?

Cheers,
Scott

This is one of the main reasons I haven't yet chosen a PJ for my new HT. I've been holding off to see what this would bring to the table.

I cant see that "Lumisizing" an HT5000 would account for anything close to that price jump. I suspect there will be a major lumens hike. Lumis type technology would be nice too.

It will not have the Lumis technology (which is primarily dynamic black and the DI). It can't, because the 5K utilizes the Delta light engine and the DB and processing were developed for the AlphaPath engine.

Do not expect an "improved" 5K, it will not be there.

Hmm, HT6000 sounds like the rumored xenon model

The 6000 is definately a dual lamp model, so unless they are using two xenon lamps.....doubtful (but I guess possible).

For $120K, it has to have something Earth shattering... or is the euro that bad?

Isn't $120,000 price tag twice the price of a HT5000?

If its dual lamp then definately not Xenon

that was the original MSRP but I'm guessing the street price is a bit different.

Yes there is going to be an HT6000. It will be at the show, but only a static display. Last I heard price has yet to be finalized, as are the specs on it, but what has leaked is that it will be dual lamp, will include improved color filtering and include the 235:1 Isco lens and sled (possibly other accessories). It may all ship in a custom road case but that is also not confirmed.
We are all expecting to see a live demo of the new non-HOST Lumis and I'm hoping the "Solar" infinite contrast flat panel will be powered up as well. Their LED projector should make its debut and they will be showing a special 3D demo (which will be totally unique from what I understand). That's a mouthful for one company...kudos to Sim2.

I said it before...though the quantity of stuff will be thin at Cedia, I think the quality will be stellar.

Regarding the 6000, I've been told $100K (not firm) from day one. I've never heard the $120K number. I guess we'll know soon enough.

I would think there would be significant interest in the LED unit.

Yeah I don't think they even know quite yet....and I agree the LED's should be a big attention getter. We'll just have to see where they work out on a price scale.

THe price reflects new pricing in anticipation of devaluation of American dollars under the current administration.

Better buy the Lumis while its cheap!

how sim2 or a other manufacturers can sale a "home cinema pr." for
mutch more than you have to pay for a "barco cinema pr".???

the talking about 100 or 120k is not the reality at lest not for a 3 chip model.

may they have a new 4 chip design but as far as i know they will not have this.

to many wrong speculations.

As it's brand new we all know how prices fluctuate. And it may very well settle in a lower price point once it's goes live. But the number I mentioned was right from their material:

I'm still very interested in what the HT 6000 can do to justify that price. I'm one who will pay for a move up but....

Since it's right down the road from me, my pl;an is to attend. For those that will not be going, I'll report any significant findings, of course.

3 years...his PJ is upgradeable and about the best money can buy. Why would you change platforms. I would imagine he is chasing performance, and he probably just caught it by the tail. I would now buy every BR disc in existence, and sit back and enjoy!
