Ehhh... wow. Looks like there are no interesting Universal movies (to me) being released in the next year, according to that list. : /

Guess that's good. Saves me some cash and saves my eyes from a winning oversharpened+DNR'd digital image looking transfers.

Zzzzzzzziiiinnnnnngggg!!!

Not a Jaws or ET fan then?

Plus I am in for the Universal monsters discs.

I've mostly caught up on the majority of movies I'd want on BD and/or replacing the dvd copies. The rest just don't exist yet. My recent BD desirables are in that sticky thread of unreleased movies.

I am pretty much the same, there are a few I would buy on the list tho

Mind you this is all an unsubstantiated rumor from Blu-Ray.com

Actually, it originated from some Criterion forum.

Some of the titles have already been released in the UK, and some were pretty much confirmed for next year (ET, Jaws).

However, it's disturbing to see how many DVD-only releases there are in 2012 (assuming this list is accurate).

Fantastic list...if it's true. ( and I saw the list yesterday and I do take it with a huge grain of salt). Best rumour EVER! I'm in for most of those new BDs.

The classic monsters are my holy grail of Blu-ray. And ABBOTT AND COSTELLO MEET FRANKENSTEIN is almost too good to contemplate.

My other hobby...building the old plastic models of the classic monsters:

There are some quite good titles there if you look. The questions remain about what the quality will be.

Overall, this is still not very encouraging, especially during their centennial year. Repressing Out of Africa and Spartacus without major work being done on them is a big problem for me, as is packaging Psycho (which I already bought) along with other Hitchcock titles that have not appeared as singles.

The announcements of All Quiet of the Western Front and To Kill a Mockingbird are much more encouraging; perhaps this is indicative of what they will actually do.

Overall, I prefer to wait to see if we get some information from the studio.

There's not really any new DVD-only releases on that list, though (except presumably the on-demand titles). The Egg and I, Francis the Talking Mule and Three Smart Girls are already in Franchise Collection sets, Charade, Sullivan's Travels, The Last Temptation of Christ and My Man Godfrey have Criterion DVDs, and everything else is a repackaging. I assume the four Criterion titles are being issued in lower-priced bare-bones editions, and the fact that Universal isn't releasing Blus themselves makes me suspect Criterion has BD versions in the offing (Charade already has one). I don't care for all the SD repackagings (where's my High Plains Drifter Blu? Winchester '73? Duck Soup? The Meaning of Life?), but it's not like they're taking much effort away from BDs.

If Jaws does in fact come, I wonder if we'll ever see a Jaws Anthology Blu-Ray set with Jaws 2, Jaws: The Revenge and Jaws 3 (hopefully in 3D). Even though 3 and Revenge are regarded as flops, I think they would be a sight to see on Blu-Ray. Especially Jaws 3 in 3D.

Jaws 3d is listed

The recent The Last Temptation of Christ announcement leads me to suspect the same thing and I would love to see a Criterion BD of Sullivan's Travels!

What the hell is "M.O.D.: Joel Mccrea western"? Joel McCrea westerns on Blu-ray? Yes please.

Sorry, but "M.O.D." is manufactured on demand, meaning decidedly not Blu-ray.

so just a repackaged DVD for john hughes? and tons of other repackaged dvd and blus and no jaws or ET etc.?

that list is so re-tread i kept thinking it was the 2011 or 2010 list

utterly lame i mean half those blu have already been out for weeks to years

and the few new big hits they offer as dvd only repackagings come on!
