Just what's inside a JVC D-ILA?

Well, I received the service manual CD from JVC for the HD-52Z575 (and others) and will post the more interesting excerpts. The Samsung still has the best manual AFAIC, though JVC does have good schematics. Again one per post.

Interesting stuff! Thanks for taking the time to post. The D-ILA specs differ somewhat from the whitepapers, especially on the pixel count.

I just wished there were photos of the unit as Samsung did and better 'English' in the manual. At least there are schematics unlike the Mits which doesn't have them at all and the 'Japanese English is far, far better than Goldstar (LG).
Hope this helps............

Thanks videobruce for the super post.
Does anyone see any values that may change the gray bars ob 4x3 to black? That is my only gripe with my new 52z585.

By ALL means, DON'T do it if you aren't comfortable with it!
Quote:

It would be at the component level which would mean a circuit modification. Lucky there are schematics with this manual unlike the Mits!

Again , thanks for the complements. For those that have read this thread and the others like this one and say "so what, who cares about the service manual, I won't be doing any of that" (or words to that effect); first place, knowledge is power and the more you or the servicer has the more of a chance the problem gets solved sooner, and second; what if that servicer DOESN'T have the manual?

One thing that surprised me was the lower response from this thread over the Mits thread. I'm surprised that this technology doesn't turn as many eyes since the DLP in the Mits isn't really new (just the set from Mits). I guess JVC's name isn't in the mainstream HD display arena yet.

Manual Detail

How much detail is in the manual?

Specifics :

- adjusting focus

- aligning the picture to remove pincushion

- details on the function of the settings in the Service Menu

- any parameters for setting the defaults so Reset is to my specs, not JVCs

I don't mind purchasing the manual, but only if it worthwhile.

Of those 4 points, only the part about "details on the function of the settings in the Service Menu" isn't spelled out!
