Let's all go to the lobby...

Found a site that offers retro trailers (filmack.com). The actually have some quicktime versions of various sample trailers on their site including the immortal "Let's all go to the lobby!"

I added this video to my HT intro DVD and it looks great. A little grainy, but actually works since it's retro.

Thought I'd share...

Thanks for the link!

These were really great! I have been looking all over for the "lets all go to the lobby" sequence.

Great find, and thanks again!

I like the mom2 video. It would be funny to show to a group of people in your theater, since the lady (who look's like Paula, from Paula's Home Cooking on FoodTV) talks about "other people's furniture".

If you get one of the Bitstream animation intros that comes with it.

There is a DVD called Drive in Disc Volume One which has very very high quality versions of several intermissions including that one. The are anamorphic 16 x9 aspect ratio and in great condition.

Art do you know what the difference between that one and http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...v=glance&n=130 ?

Looks the same (except the 300% price differential).

THANKS

Yea, I've had mine for years and I just noticed also that it was expensive. More than I paid. I bet they are the same and it's some kind of error. I would have expected $10 -$12.

I bought the three disc set a few years ago from Best Buy in the $30 range. There are a lot of different movie commercials in them.

That's just for the one disc. The whole set is three dvds which totals around $18 - $25.

All three have original Drive-In extras, including cartoons, countdown clock, concession stand ads, previews, intermission and more. There are some of the same on all three discs, but they all have different ones as well.

The coolest part of these is that you can have "the latest in LOW FIDELITY technology - DISTORTO Sound!! To truly recreate the the Drive In experience, we have added a secondary audio track which replicates the sounds of a Drive In theater. Note: This feature delivers the soundtrack of the film to only the front left speaker of your system. The other 'sounds' are heard from the remaining channels. You'll feel like you're actually there!"

I have all three of those Drive-In Discs and really like them, primarily for the fine PQ of the drive-in theater extras. I have been disappointed that they haven't come out with a Volume 4, 5, 6, etc. after a couple of years now. From the trailers on Volume 3, the next double bill was going to be The Blood Creature and The Creature From The Haunted Sea and they looked hilariously cheezy!

My only two quibbles are that, although the Popeye and Gumby cartoons were fine, the Betty Boop cartoons on the first two discs are not contemporary to the features, which were either 1958 or 1960 releases. Woody Woodpecker or Droopy Dogg cartoons in their place would have been terrific.

And the other quibble is that there really isn't an Intermission "Count Down" to speak of on any of the three volumes. Volume two has a cursory one with a 10 minute, 5 minute and 1 minute warning accompanying pics of flora and fauna, but the kind of drive-in intermission "countdown" I remember so well was the story countdown that showed a new chapter of a crudely animated short every minute until "Showtime".

That's where the "Hey Folks, It's Intermision Time!" DVDs come through but the PQ of their pieces doesn't come near that of the Drive-In Discs.

The one to get?

I'm planning to buy one of the "drive in" DVDs (thanks Art).

Which one (of the three) has the most extras (let's all go to the lobby, etc.).

Guys I hope everyone enjoys them. This is is where a good computer savey member could edit things to get a better running more enjoyable mix than what the discs have individually ( not me)

Angry 4-Lobby_Darker.mov

Thanks to Brian Meacham I've found this forum and thanks to Mike Falz I've found an intermission segment for my home movies.

Some background, I know nothing about making movies. I was given a gift of a DVD with years of old 8mm home movies. They were transferred helter skelter so I'm using Nero Vision to put them in chronological order. I thought I'd add stuff like some still pics and an intermission.

I downloaded the 4-Lobby_Darker.mov and Nero can't open it.

Can someone help out this Newbie?

Foggetaboutit! I just downloaded QuickTime and everything is OK.

I have the 3 discs "Drive-In Discs Collection" set as well as the "hey folks! it's intermission time" set.

The intermission time is pretty bad but it whole set has recently been remastered and I've heard good things about it. But haven't seen the new set myself.

You can find the remastered at Drivein Exchange but it's over $100

If you are just looking for the basics I would highly recommend "The Drive-In Discs Collection"

I must be doing something wrong. I was trying to get all of the ads from the Drive In discs so I could use them randomly (via Nero) in my preshows. Mind you, I have pulled a few before and did not have the trouble I am having now, so I don't know what I have done wrong. The "distorto" sound effects you get from these discs have shown up in every one of my attempts. Naturally, I just want the original audio.
What have I forgotten to do?

each clip as a couple of audio tracks. 1 is the original and one includes the "special effects" You need to make sure you a ripping he correct auio track. What are you using to rip the tacks off the discs? Look for a place to select the audio track.
