Question Where's the Samsung DVD-HD860 "HDCP free" hack?

Since the HD860 doesn't have an "angle" button on the remote, has anyone found a hack to run 1080i or 720p over component yet?
Thanks.

Will a universal remote work?

I'm also curious. I just got one of these, but only keeping it if it upconverts thru component. I'm willing to give the hack for the 850 a shot on this player, but I'm not at home right now.

Tried it yesterday and the remote hack did not work.

I hope I can find a way to get component upconversion to work or it goes back this weekend.

I just picked up the DVD-HD860. I keep hearing all of this yahoo about the Oppo. Is it worth twice the money? Will I gain that much better of a picture?

PS. The Blue light on the Samsung is really freakin annoying.

IIRC, Samsung got into quite a bit of trouble with the DVD consortium for making their players so easy to hack. I wouldn't be surprised at all if they have made it much more difficult, if not impossible to hack the newer ones.

I know about the region free, and read how to do Divx, I also like the way it outputs HDMI and Component at the same time.
I would love the ability for component upscaling also.

Hey Guys Just Bought the HD-860. It does play Divx Files, but some files dont play
Like this file that had this thing in it "AC3[Eng]-aXXo.avi"
And I just bought this DVD Player alongwith Sony Wega (new Model) after agonizing 2 months of searching and thinking about LCD or PLASMA, and ended up with CRT HD TV. I did not know at that time that I will not get the Upscaling through Component DAMN!!! And it doesnt have a HDMI Port
Anyways what to do? Just spent around 800$ but cant do what i thought it would do!!!!
Can anyone suggest which DVD Player (UP-SCALING) Will do HD (720p) through Component?
OR which one has a HACK and is in the same Price Range as that of HD-860.
IS THERE A HACK FOR SAMSUNG HD-60, HDCP

Hi Devil, although the Samsung 860 wont upscale thru component, your TV will.
Just set your HD860 to progressive off (480i).
Now with your Wega CRT you can choose progressive (480P) with the TV doing the de-interlacing or you can just set the Samsung 860 to 480P it let it do the deinterlacing.
Compare the two and use the one that is best, Many prefer watching DVD's at the native rate.
Or you can can use 480i and set the DRC to cinemotion (for film-base material) or interlaced, your TV will automatically scale to 1080i or 960i if it is similar to my Sony CRT.
I am starting to enjoy 480i thru component then using cinemotion to upscale.
In my experience the HDMI port gives a very slight boost in sharpness while component seem slightly softer and smoother.
Which new Sony CRT does not have HDMI?

@lastxbr960, Thanks for the Reply. I am currently in Middle East and the Tele that I got is this one "KV-DZ29M81" it doesnt have the DRC that u have mentioned.
But the Pic quality is good. Its on "sony-mea"

So i guess it doesnt make a diff if I dont get it to do 720p.
One more problem that i am having is, that I have burned Movie Files SVCD onto DVD+R using Nero 6.6.1.4, Its a single File with a size of around 2 GB, the data is read by the Samsung HD860, and movie is player fine, now when I skip it skips till 4-5 Mins of Initially, and then if i skip it retreats to the same 4-5 Mins of the run time Movie Place, and while using forward, when u press play again it returns to the same 4-5 Mins Runtime place of File thats annoying.
Any Ideas about the Problem that i have mentioned and also about Divx File that I wrote above?
Thanks again.

Looking to buy this Samsung DVD-HD860 for using region 2 PAL disc in Canada (moving there in a few months from the UK)

It seems easy to hack.

My question is once hacked and become region free I assume if I try and play a UK PAL DVD on a Canada CRT TV it will not work just roll the image.

But what happens if I run this player via the HDMI port to a HD LCD (Samsung LNS1952W) which I have ready for use in Canada (purchased in Canada)

Of course the player is not doing any conversion (dont want it to as I have played with a JVC PAL to NTSC DVD player and that was a bit poor) but what will a Canada LCD TV do with a HDMI PAL Signal?

Can anyone advise as I'm about to go to Best Buy to ge this DVD player

R

I bought my HD860 refurbished a few months back (region 1) and followed 'getme's link from 04-26-06 to make it region free via 'Robert DeNiro's hack to make it region free (region 9). Thanks!
