Setting up a Moxi and the Harmony 880 remote?
I have the Moxi unit from Charter Cable in Madison Wi. Looking at picking up a Harmony 880 remote. I've walked thru the test drive a couple times, but have some questions. Assuming anyone has any experience with these two. I don't know specifically which moxi model i have (at work) but i got it around december I think.
1) Overall, how well does the moxi work with this remote? Does it split up the cable and PVR functions adequately? Or do they need to be "learned"? I'm rather hoping the database is complete enough to have all this. 2) Do i select the Moxi for both cable AND pvr? Or just PVR? the subsequent question "to watch PVR, i use the moxi to change channels, or use the pvr to change channels" leads me to think it will only use one setting anyway. |

Well I just got a harmony 720 which is controlling the moxi 9012 alright. I am wishing I could create a custom button that would do a 30 second advance thing so I don't have to keep waiting for the fastforward...I guess I'm just going to have to suck it up and buy myself my own DVR...

I have a MOXI (non DVD version) and the Logitech Harmony 880 Remote and it works perfect. I did not have to learn any functions of the MOXI remote. I'm not sure what you mean by splitting up cable and PVR. When I choose activity "Watch PVR", it's just like having the MOXI remote in my hand. I did remap 2 buttons (forward/back) for viewing info pages of programs, but that was just a preference. Again I'm not sure what you are speaking of with cable and PVR. Are you using your TV to watch analog cable as well as your MOXI box? |

Ive got my 880 working with Moxi, works well havent needed to map any buttons.
Id like to see if its possible to program 880 to do "steps", so when i press the programmed key the following happens - Moxis goes to main menu, exits, then channels. Anybody know if this is possible? |

So, lets say you want to do what you were asking, Main menu, exit, then channles (not sure what you mean by 'channels' exactly). You can do this one of 2 ways, the 1st would be to just add them to your Activity you setup for watching your PVR (Moxi). You can go back in and edit how the activity runs by editing .. "Review the settings for this Activity" ... "Yes, but I want to add more control of options and devices for this Activity." .. Then follow these steps through, leaving your settings in tack until you get to the page .. "Please review the actions for your Watch Moxi Activity:" Here (at the bottom) you can add in specific commands to run at the end of the Activity macro for Watching your PVR. Each time you hit that activity it would try to turn on your TV and any A/V receivers you setup, which wouldnt hurt anything at all, then it would run the additional commands you passed to it. Your second option would be to do the same steps, but assign them to a different Activity. The only advantage to this would be that maybe you don't want to run this macro when you run the activity "Watch PVR". It's up to you, but it should be very possible. Good Luck |

I have the Moxi in Madison, and I just set up the Harmony 520 for it last night. It works fabulously. Better yet, the 520 was only $75 on clearance at the West Side Wal Mart (I got it last night and there were at least two more left.) It seems to do anything I would want it to, so I didn't see the value in the color screen of the 880.
