400-800 Disc DVD Player that Connects to CPU

I've done the search (both on this forum, and on google) for a 400-800 Disc DVD Player that Connects to a Computer Via a USB or Firewire Cable, allowing the computer to control the playback as well as keep track of which disc is stored in each location (making massive DVD playback easy). So far the only one that looks like it has those capabilities is the Sony, however it only holds 200 Discs... and would also look ugly in my HT setup

PS - I would like if the DVD Player had the ability to upscale but it is not neccesary. Also HDMI would be preferred.

Any reason you don't want to go down the storing on HDD method instead?

3-6 terrabyte should do the trick.

Can't answer for anyone but myself, but the time needed for ripping 400+ DVDs is the single thing that keeps me from setting up a file server with my DVDs. The solution asked for in this thread would keep me from having to do the job.

ya, the main reason would be ripping all the dvds, the second reason is there is better usage for that kinda storage, like recording TV and HDTV

... I currectly have about 1.5 GB for recording TV, but we just have way too many DVDs to rip.

Think you are looking at the wrong line of Sony products. You mentioned the Viao, but Sony has two 400 dvd changers:
DVP CX995V- with HDMI and no RS232 access port for PC hookup
DVP CX777ES- no HDMI but includes RS232 access. Costs more as well, almost dpuble the first option.

I never used it or any others but found it when I was looking for a way to manage my DVD's and CD's.

There is also something called "bluesilver" which will read your "dvd profiler" or "DVDpedia" collection files, display the disc/collection info including cover images, and allow you to control your dvdp-cx777es. It's available for windows, macosx and linux...

I've read DVD Lobby is the way to go. I even saw it on a home improvement show on tv in a high end home theater/home control system.
