Just upgraded from my old STR-DA1000ES to an STR-DA3300ES! So far it has been worth it, as audio, the interface, tweaking abilities and connectivity are all major improvements! Kinda thinking about going one step further to a 4300ES, but all that would get me is Dolby & DTS Master HD for $300. Not sure it's worth it.
I have just bought the Onkyo 505 about a month a go, and so far I just love it ! I don't think that you can beat the quality for the price ( $267.99 )IMHO. I know that it only has pass through HDMI but thats fine with me right now. I have a HD DVD player and the sound is just great compared to the old Yamaha 5730 that I use to have.
One day when my daughter grads from college I may go with a higher end receiver, but right now I am well pleased with the sound that I get from the 505.
So yeah...I decided to go with a Denon AVR-2808ci instead of a Sony ES, and I couldn't be happier! The sound is soooo much better! Don't get me wrong, I love Sony for many things (TV, PS3, etc.), but Home Audio is no longer one of them. My new Denon unit, while not as user-friendly, is way better once set up properly (albeit with some patience). I was gonna get the Sony STR-4300ES, but I feel like I've gotten a MUCH BETTER deal by going with the Denon, especially considering the fact that I saved $100.00! So there's my long, enthusiastic answer
. Forgive me, as I'm just absolutely elated-as this was the final piece of my HT, and I honestly couldn't be happier with my purchases!
HK AVR-630 had it for about 3 years and Im quite happy. No HDMI but it works great for my setup. lots of clean power. I also use zone 2 alot. I had a couple of minor issues with it at first but HK fixed it under Warranty for free. they have a 2 year warranty and pretty decent customer service.
