Velodyne Subwoofer Driver Pics

Everybody has seen the SVS drivers since day one.
I have even seen some HSU drivers.

Anybody have pics of the Velodyne Drivers starting w/ the DD, SPL, and DSL stuff?
That would be great.

Since, I am on the subject does anyone have pics of the HO drivers for HSU and the AV123 drivers for their subs?

Here is a link to the HGS-10 Acrylic--similar driver to what is in the DD, a little beefier than what is in the SPL an way more overbuilt than the DLS series. As crazy built as this is the DD's are a tad more overbuilt.

Thats a cool looking sub. It would be even cooler if it were made from UV reactive Acrylic like those PC cases

Yeah, I kind of always wondered what would happen if velo decided to build a LLT built around one of their amazing drivers and hihgly capable amp with their incredible electronics. I am sure that the drivers are designed specifically for small sealed enclosures though--and they would have to start from scratch for a vented or PR application. I am sure it is within their means, I just don't think in their philosophy. The shear amount of bass they get out of smaller sealed enclosures is more than is needed for 95% of the non bass junky population. Now, for most of the guys in here....that is another story. We are always trying to push the envelope.

i thought the grill wasn't removable? i just got one and it doesn't seem like i can take it off.

the grill cloth is a bit flexible ... you can grab hold of the grill and pull out the ring that holds the cloth. I have done this many times but cannot guarantee yours will work.

That looks like a vent on the bottom. I'am not too familiar with Velodyne subs but I though they were all sealed subs (not ported in anyway).
Please correct me if I'm wrong.

most of velodyne's subs are sealed but this model is one of their few bass-reflex subs. according to curt c from velodyne it's a more efficient design.

Most ported subs are more efficient than sealed.

Don't know how great a ported DD-18 would be

, but there is probably a good reason (SQ) that Velo's top models are all sealed. For sheer output, a $1200 SVS PB-12 Plus/2 would likely out-muscle the DD-18.

I know you're not supposed to judge a book by it's cover, but that's a pretty weak looking subwoofer driver.

yeah im not gonna lie, i wasnt too impressed when i took it out. its got a decent magnet (55oz) but the actual driver looks like its simply thick paper. but im building myself a new sub so soon this will just be my back up

There is nothing wrong with paper woofer or subwoofer drivers. Paper is very light and can be pretty strong.

The magnet does look pretty weak but if it performs fairly well to you, who cares.
