TV For Video Gaming
Hello all I don't post much here but I figured you guys would be the ones to ask this question oh and sorry if this is the wrong forum, I'm in the market for a new TV one that's good for video gaming. I would like it to be HD (obviously) and widescreen because I do have a Xbox 360. I'm looking for something thats about 27"-30" because my current CRT is 27". Is it possiable to have a TV that supports both 720p and 1080i? As for price range about $700-$1000 + I should be able to add another $100 to $200 for my old TV because it's only about 4 years old.
Should I look into LCD or CRT? |

if you're going the crt route, the sony xbr970 i hear is pretty solid, and from what i've seen the quality is great. for about that much money, you can get a good 32" or even 37" lcd(like the olevias, etc). crt's generally have better image quality, esp in dark images\scenes, but lcds are more versatile in other areas like pc hookup, are pretty bright, and are solid for gaming and becoming more so. best thing to do is read up, and check out the different tv technologies first hand at your local store. also, you can hook up your system to whatever telly you're interested in at most stores to see what your 360 will look like on it before buying.

As far as CRT's go, Sony seems to have the best overall Picutre Quality (PQ) which is outstanding. They tend to run more expensive though so I went for the next level down which is the slim fit CRTs... The 2 main TVs in that bracket are Samsung 3082 and LG 30FS4D... both are around $ 750 and both have their pluses and minuses... I would check their threads in this forum to get an idea of the +/- ....
This forum really helped me make my decision (LG) so I would suggest reading around here and of coarse don't be afraid to ask questions... Good Luck LG Thread: http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=634002 Samsung 3082 Thread: http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=669114 |

Sorry for the bump of this dinosaur of a thread but I figured I'd post in here instead of creating a new topic. Well I'm going to be getting the TV this summer and I think I'm going to go with an LCD display nowseeings how they've come down in price
Some new requirements I'd like it to have: -1080p support for the PS3 and now 360 -I'd also like to use it as a PC Monitor. -Size between 37"-42" because the room isn't that big -HDMI Input -Price $1500 or less I was going to have the PS3 be on the HDMI port, the PC be on DVI, Xbox 360 on VGA or on a second HDMI port if they release a model with HDMI output and the Wii on component I'm currently looking into a Westinghouse because they have a ton of inputs for a great price. Do you guys have an expirence with Westinghouse? Or would you recommend another TV? Again thanks for the help. |
