Since this is the plasma I am buying (no longer interested in the 58" Panny). When is this puppy coming out ?
From the online searchs I have done, phone calls I have made and searchs on this forum, the release date seems to be "narrowed down" to anywhere from next week, to the end of August.

It sure would be nice to get a better idea on the release date for the 6070.

Anybody have any better info than I do ?

What would really suck is if the 65" 1080 Panny came out first or really close to the same time,, I think that would truly make my head explode, that would be a tough choice, however I still think I would go for the 6070.

Unfortunately, Pioneers web site is still down.

Like others was hoping that when it comes back up we will see additional info on the 6070.

Is the new Pioneer 6070 really available now??

I find this hard to believe but I was searching the Internet and I found another forum where they were talking about the Pioneer 6070HD and that according to Best Buy it is in there system to order now. Another poster said it would be available this Father's day (1 week) and then I went to TV Authority's web site and they list it as In Stock!!!!!!!!!! I thought TV Authority was a reputable dealer, if they say it is in stock, then shouldn't it really be in stock??? What gives, is it really available??!!! I NEED TO KNOW!

I hope this is just a mistake on their website because this is a very bad policy for a retailer to have.

I presume this is in violation of the rules, as well.

BTW - Try calling an authorized dealer. Knowing Pioneer, the announced date and when dealers will actually lay hands on them can be way off, not to mention allocation difficulties...

FYI-

TVAuthority is a Pioneer Authorized Dealer.

And if one looks at their web site they will see that the PIO-6070 is listed under their "Coming Soon".

I believe that nothing is implied or promised and I think that the "IN STOCK" was activated by mistake.

As always when in doubt "Just Call".

Problem I have with this is I called a week and a half ago and pointed out to them they should not have it listed as "IN Stock".

Point understood....and you did let them know.....but in life we have to choose our battles and for me I'll let common sense prevail.

I was at BB here in Bay Area today to see if 5070 is available. The rep. looked up the system and told me that the TV can be delivered tomorrow at my place for additional charge of $70. I was enquiring about 5070. Their model# is 5071.
I'm hoping that the TV will be available soon to the internet dealers as well.

A little heads for for those that are interested....

Keep your eyes and ears open.....

I think that they are working on one of those "Power Buy" things....

Maybe we will know with-in a week or so....

It is my understanding that it is one of our sponsors....

Just sit tight for now.....

Well thanks to our new member Pioneer Trainer....

Release dates are looking like the August time frame.

It also sounds like that a Pioneer 60" Elite is coming as well....

Ok, Ive got this thing pre-ordered from a forum sponser (hopefully from the one that "might" be doing the powerbuy) and this thread is just kinda not moving fast enough (for me) and Im really wanting to see this puppy get released !!!!

I saw posted where it could be an August release date,, please tell me it aint so !!! August is to far away (lol) and my 50" Panny plasma is shrinking as Im typing this.

I want it now.

Anyhow, I hate this waiting thing and just had to vent.

Dying for any new news.

You're right about the slow moving thread, but heck there is not much info out there right now.

Pioneer has not added anything to their site either.

August is a time away.

Oh well!

I hope that thing on the bottom is just a removable speaker. Otherwise, they have taken a step backwards for those of us who prefer the plain frame look.

Yes it is. The spec sheet says so also.

It's a limited time special offer to AVS members that allows you to become an "early adopter" for the same price that you would probably be able to get from the same vendor three months later.

It is being reported that there is "NO PURE" mode for the non-Elite models.

The question has been asked of Pioneer Trainer if this is true or not.

What is the MSRP on the Elites......oh well!

Pricing on the Pioneer 6070

This is my first post on the forum and it's about pricing...imagine that.

It seems the new Pioneer Plasma is going to be priced not far from the older 5th gen 61 inch versions. Does anyone know how or why the price on the new 6070 is being priced where it is? The primary reason I ask is you would expect the older models such as the 6100 to be drastically dropping in price considering the quickly approaching roll out date of the 6070, but alas that is not the case. If the 6070 is a better model using more advanced technology how can the two models be priced so close together and why are the older model's prices not falling to levels significantly below the 6070 unless.....

I can't imagine why anyone would pay $6200-6300 for the PDP-6100 when the newer model is going to be $6500-7000 unless Pioneer is holding back on this one. I really want to go with Pioneer, but I certainly don't want to pay seven or eight hundred more for about the same quality. Any thoughts on this???
