Paradigm Millenia Owner's Thread

Figured I would start this as I haven't seen one yet. Also, because of the fact not many people have the 200's and noone has the 20's.

I received my Millenia 200's over a week ago and am still waiting on the three 20's to arrive. I paired this system with a Seismic 12.

So far the 200's and Seismic have been very nice. I am glad I went with the Seismic over the Ultracube, considering my space. I am hearing new sounds and instruments not previously audible with my AR-15's bookshelf speakers. Sometimes it sounds like the noise is coming from somewhere outside the room and the detail is phenomenal. The sub, as most know, is outstanding. Very responsive and true. I can honestly say I am pleased with my selection/purchase.
Here are some pics of the Millenia 200 and their placement in my room.

Nice. I am waiting for my polished black 200s to arrive early next week. Don't know when the 20s will come or what the stands will look like. Anyone see them at CEIDA?

Thanks.

I just got the 20s on Thursday. Man, they were hard to come by. From what I am told only about 20 people have a full set of Millenia's. These 20s are hot commodities! There is only one pic of the 20s on Paradigm's site and none from CEDIA I have seen. So, here is the 1st look!

Haven't seen the stands and I am told they "should" be out before Christmas. They were supposed to be revealed at Cedia. Sucks really, cause I have no idea what other stands would work, much less to hold these puppies up. I have thrown in once for my CC. It comes with the hardware to mount it horizontally or vertically. They are beautiful.
The CC sounds great. Super clean and amazing detail. Can't wait for those stands.

I am going to snap some new pics of the CC in place. Had to re-arrange my DLP stand.
Looking for an audio rack now. Looking at Lovan. They have some solid racks.

I'm interested in getting some slim speakers. What other speakers did you audition before deciding on these? Thanks.

Def Tech Mythos, Klipsch towers.
The Millenia's seem deeper than the Mythos and just overall better constructed.
Not a big audition process, but enough to know. From what I have hooked up now, the Millenia's are simply scrumtrulescent!
The detail, clarity, and smoothness are fabulous. The Seismic...I don't really need to say anything about that. Everything has been said.

Smile pick up the 200s on 10-18-2006

Im picking mine up on the 18th. Im moving and will be installing these in my new house. I'll post my opinion once I get these. I listen to a demo pair this week and they did the the paradigm "magic".

In the past ive had the paradigm studio 60, vandersteens, and martin logans. I dont' have much space for this install (corner install) so i had to make a size compromise.

Millenia 20s retail for $499 each. They will be coming out with a MilleniaADP in the next month or so, those would be the best match for surrounds.

Where do you get this information? When are they coming out with the stands for the 20s?

Just received my 20's yesterday, the polished black really looks great next to my Pioneer PDP. Will be installing the CC in the next week or so. My dealer continues to tell me before Christmas for the stands. That really sucks as I can't see connecting the 20's as surrounds until I get them.

The Millenia ADPs were shown at CEDIA. As far as the stands go, I don't know as of now.

I didn't see any coverage of the ADPs at Cedia. Do you have a link?

I don't actually, but they are due out in November. So the wait won't be long.

Epacy,

How are they sounding now that you've had a little bit to listen to them?

The setup, so far, is sounding great. Don't have the sats up yet, waiting for the stands.
I am hearing things never heard before and I keep thinking I am hearing things from outside and other places in the house. The speakers are amazingly detailed and clear. Love the sub, obviously. I just can't get over the crispness and detail these speakers provide. I need to run more movies and see what these can do. I don't regret a single dollar spent on this setup.

Just installed the CC and it looks great. Thought I would share a quick pic so others can see how nicely the polished black looks with a Pioneer PDP.

Can't really see the polished black from that angle. Is that all the farther you are going to spread out the 200s?

Don't have the space to spread them out further. Such is the reality of San Francisco real estate.....

Very nice setup! I would make one suggestion, and it's a small one. On the 20 as the center channel, is the silver P held on by a magnet? On the Paradigm Cinema 330 speakers, the logo is held on by a magnet, so if you have the speaker vertical, the logo will be on the bottom, and if it is horizontal, you can remove it and place it where the magnet is on the side of the grill facing the right direction, or the new bottom of the speaker.

It's a small thing, but will finish it off. Otherwise it looks great!

Did anyone compare these to the Mythos for music?
I was DEAD SET on getting some Mythos, but they were a little too bright for my taste when it came to music. Female vocals didn't sound as natural when compared to the Monitor Audio's, which is what I ended up ordering. Problem is, it's been 4 weeks now and I'm still waiting for them. Now Paradign comes out with these and I'm thinking of trying these out.
It's interesting that my local shop has Paradigm and Def Tech and then LOVE the Mythos. I called to see if they had the Millennia and was told they don't plan on carrying them since they have the Mythos. Too bad.

a little confused

About a week ago I heard the Millenia 200 and placed them on order. I have not received the speakers yet.

Since then, I have been trying to figure out the proper surround speaker to use with them. At the time of sale a rep from paradigm was in the store and assisting with the sale. I asked him what the proper surround speaker would be, and funny enough he lead me to purchase the Cinema ADP. Now at the time I was not thinking, but clearly--the Cinema ADP was not designed to be paired with the Millenia series. I think the Paradigm rep. might have been confused, because there were other cinema series speakers in the same room.

Trying to resolve the issue, I emailed Paradigm's technical support. A few days later I got this response from Gary:

"The Millenia 20 is designed to be used for the left, right or center speaker
and it is already available.

From the current models, the newly released Studio Series ADP-590 v.4 is the
best choice for the surrounds.

If you prefer a lower priced option, the ADP-370 is a good alternative.

At present, there isn't any information available about if or when a
Millenia version of the ADP's might be made.

Thanks for choosing Paradigm speakers."

Now, call me stupid, but I have seen pictures of the Millenia ADP in pictures online from CEDIA. Right now I am a little confused, and I still need to cancel the order for the Cinema ADP. The ADP-590's are way out of my budget for a surround speaker. I am not sure about the ADP-370.

Im assuming I should wait for the Millenia ADP to be released, if it gets released?

If you look closely, you will see there is a sign that says Millenia ADP. There are also several other interesting products in the picture...

I have a purchasing decision to make very soon. I an considering the Millenia series as an option to upgrading my Monitor center and surrounds. Have any of you Millenia owners also heard the Monitor series v3 or 4, and been able to compare the sound of the two?

More specifically, would you consider the Millenia 200 to be an upgrade to the Monitor 11 v4? and the 20 to be an upgrade to the CC-370 v4?

My understanding is that you sacrifice performance when you go for the style of the Millenia/Mythos type speakers over the traditional box style cabinets.

Yes, I heard they are producing the 300. Which should be taller than the 200 and should be available by the end of this year.

With the Millenia being reference speakers and the reviews they have gotten so far, I don't think this concept applies as much to these "style" speakers. I have heard reviews of people saying they were very impressed with the Millenia's when listening to them next to the Signature's.
