Does Anyone Have Hdmi Connection From Dish 622 Box Working Without Problems To Hd Tv?

I'm seriously considering switching to dish for its 25 channels of hd for my new sony xbr2. they would provide me with their 622 dvr as part of the package. however both on this forum and others at avs there have been persistent complaints about the failure of the hdmi output on the 622. is this a widespread problem or is this a problem affecting a small minority of subscribers?

The HDMI on my first 622 connected to my XBR2 failed. Dish had a replacement 622 in my house the next day and I have not had a problem since.

Have the 40XBR3 and 622 with HDMI no problem.

Similar to Wabo - I had a unit fail & replaced. My understanding is that a software overnight up-load caused many failures and has since been de-bugged.

The unit itself is a joy to work with - the dual tuners alone worth the price of admission with dish programming a serious upgrade over what's avail on any other platform.

I've had an inexpensive HDMI cable I got through Amazon from the 622 to my 55" Sony since April - no problems.

Mine just went out today. Added to the list of problems I've had with the 622. I recommend to stay away.

An update: Just spoke with Dish - they WILL NOT send me a replacement DVR. Their solution to me is to set up a temporary television for viewing. I asked repeatedly to have the unit returned, but they refuse to allow me to send it in. They say it's a software issue and they are working on it (though they claim it's been an issue since June and have no "fix" date). I now have a paperweight that costs me $100 per month. Do. Not. Go. To. DishNetwork.

I've been using HDMI from the vip622 to my Mitsubish 73732 for about a month now with no issues at all.

I've been with Dish now for about four months. I connect the 622 to the Sony SRXD via HDMI with a DVI to HDMI converter. It's working just fine!

1 month now and counting...

...with HDMI from the 622 to my new Westy 47W running 1080i.

I did have 2 occurrences of an odd problem. When 1st turning the set on in the morning (pushing the Select key as the Dish screen saver logo tells you to), we got picture but no sound on the TV1 output ONLY! TV2 worked just fine. Turning the box off with the power button on the 622 front panel cleared this up, but it was annoying. Happened last Saturday and Sunday mornings, and not before or since.

Other than that, I've very happy (so far).

I have a Panasonic 50" Plasma Model TH-50PX60U connected to a DISH Network Satellite Receiver, VIP 211-HD. Several attemptes to establish connectivity with HDMI cables have resulted in either immediate failure or failure soon thereafter (1 week). DISH Networks explanation is that they are aware of the problem and that it will be corrected with an upcoming software upgrade. That was 5 months ago. In the mean time I've been using the the component cable hookup and have gotten an excellent picture. I also have a 32" Sony Bravia LCD with the same hookup. After approximately 4 months - no sound. When I hooked it up to the component cables I got both sound and picture.

Unhappy 622 Hdmi Failure

My 622 worked perfectly for 4 months, then the HDMI output to my Sony LCD HDTV stopped sending the picture. TV screen was barely lighted, and NO picture. I tried the RCA outputs from the 622 and they are working fine. I have 2 devices using up the 2 component video ports. When I researched the 622 problem, there were quite a few posts on the Web, indentifying the same problem I was having. It appears that DITCH NW originally replaced faulted 622s but now refuse to do so, saying that it is a "software problem" which will be automatically downloaded when they make a patch. Many have been waiting for months for the "software patch". Really, the product is defective if it will not perform as described in the user manual. Whether it is a software problem or hardware problem, it is a product defect. The thing will not work with HDMI. How could it be a software problem if the 622 worked just fine for months, and other people with 622's are not having failures?
I phoned and went through the drill at Ditch NW tech support. Then they refused to send a new 622, saying "wait on the patch". In the meantime, I suppose I can change the component wires each time I want to use a different source for my TV. It is a little difficult to change wires on a TV & stand that fit tightly into a corner. I would bring a class action claim if others would join. You know it is BS when a "patch" is taking 5 months and software is working fine on many 622's. It is really a hardware problem and there will never be a patch!!!!

I feel for you!

Did you purchase outright the 622 or is it owned by Dish?

Ugh! I purchased it from an authorized dish network dealer in July, as part of a package deal including the pocket-dish 400e

Thumbs down HDMI not working w/ Pioneer Elite

I am new to Dish and went w/ the 622. After trying a 2nd 622 unit - they informed me that it's not working due to a software issue w/ no ETA. I am switching over to component to see if that works but I'm not exactly happy about having a 50 in plasma w/ HDMI and a receiver w/ a non-functional HDMI port...

Mine was working fine with Hitachi RPTV 51SWX20B via HDMI for about 3 months then all of a sudden nothing. I checked with another display, a different set of HDMI cables and still nothing. DISH claim a SW problem and told me to switch to the component outputs.

Since I run cables 20ft under the floor I cannot just add another set of cables and I have no means to switch component outputs to the set. When I explained this they were good enough to give me a credit equal to the difference between SD and HD service plus credit for the DVR - abt $30/month. I thought that was a decent compromise since they were not willing to swap out the box... same story software bug is being worked on... no eta.
