Did this just happen to anyone else?

Did this just happen to anyone else?

I have a Panasonic TH-42PX50 and a Comcast DCT-3412 in Boston connected via HDMI. They just ran a Emergency Broadcast Test and this happened. And a hard reset doesn't fix it. -g

It is getting worse...

I am shutting it off for the night and will pull hard power.

I think the unit is officially dead. I can't see menus to do a soft reset and every time I turn it on the image gets worse. I don't know if this is something I can take to Comcast, but it was definitely coordinated with the EBS test. To make matters worse I have a couple months before my in-home warranty kicks in.

Unplug both the TV and cable box from the wall (power) for a few minutes.

Do you see this problem on other TV inputs. If not... then call Comcast to resolve the issue.

Same issue on all inputs. Both units have been unpluged and reconnected. I am going to call Comcast tonight.

A service person is coming on Monday. I didn't mention the whole EBS part of the TV's failure since they wouldn't believe me anyways. So far my experience with panasonic service has been outstanding.

The repair guy brought two boards because that panasonic didn't know which it was. He replaced the first and the problem is gone and hasn't returned.

As for the cause, he thought it had to do with the blue screen from the emergency broadcast. Basically a component that was ready to fail and the intensity of the full blue image put it over the edge. Seems reasonable considering the alternatives. I just hope the problem was contained to that board and not a power supply.

Panasonic was great through the entire thing. I even filled out a survey.

Ohhh wow, what at quality TV! It can't even display a full blue image without something getting fried!
