Did this just happen to anyone else?

I have a Panasonic TH-42PX50 and a Comcast DCT-3412 in Boston connected via HDMI. They just ran a Emergency Broadcast Test and this happened. And a hard reset doesn't fix it. -g Last edited by fulminis; 12-03-06 at 11:03 AM.. |

I think the unit is officially dead. I can't see menus to do a soft reset and every time I turn it on the image gets worse. I don't know if this is something I can take to Comcast, but it was definitely coordinated with the EBS test. To make matters worse I have a couple months before my in-home warranty kicks in.

The repair guy brought two boards because that panasonic didn't know which it was. He replaced the first and the problem is gone and hasn't returned.
As for the cause, he thought it had to do with the blue screen from the emergency broadcast. Basically a component that was ready to fail and the intensity of the full blue image put it over the edge. Seems reasonable considering the alternatives. I just hope the problem was contained to that board and not a power supply. Panasonic was great through the entire thing. I even filled out a survey. |
