I'm guessing so, unless one of the biggest distributors in France (and all of Europe) suddenly ceases to exist.

Or the friendly folks at Xploited Cinema.

Some great titles! Watching the promo trailer on Total Recall and others, it's clear to me that Ran is the PQ show-stopper of them all, and T2 will just crush the Lion's Gate BD piece of crap.

I'm down for everything they release that we don't already have out here in America. Thanks for posting the large pictures!

I'm guessing 'T2' won't be the superior extended edition, but I will definitely buy 'Mulholland Drive' & 'Brotherhood of the Wolf'.

Ran and Mulholland Drive might be the two titles I break down and get (Elephant Man is also mighty tempting too).

Wonder when Studio Canal will release Inland Empire on HD DVD in Europe.

So will these all have english soundtracks? Or will the default be French? Are there any "gotchas" for buying these?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but was Studio Canal going to release some Disney on HD DVD? I thought I read that somewhere.

I'll pick up L'armee des Ombres if it has English subs. Fingers crossed. What happened to Melville's Le Cercle Rouge? It was originally listed as one of the Studio Canal releases too. I hope Le Samourai makes it's way to HD soon.

They will likely be optional subtitles just like the recent releases like 'Basic Instrinct' & 'Total Recall'.

Unless some of the movies are only planned for a French release, they will have for their original language a DTS-HD Master Audio track, and an opening menu for selecting the appropriate menu and subtitle language, english included. And according to MS's official HD-DVD page, all of the titles are planned to be release in countries outside of France. They're not all listed as being released in the UK, so I don't know if that will effect whether or not they'll have english subs. But also that list hasn't been updated for a while, and it doesn't list La Haine as a title that's available in the UK, so the list isn't totally authoritative. But I would be surprised if all of these and any others SC releases in France won't include english subs.

Here's the list btw:

No, the very first menu screen that shows up asks you what language (actually, subtitles) you want, the default is English. After that, it looks like a domestic product: all menu options & the movie are in English with no forced subtitles. The only "gotcha" is no extras so far, if that's a problem for you... none on the ones I have anyways.

you can see the menus in the attached pics of studio canal - kk (76).

an initial screen lets you pick a language which the player remembers the next time you load the disk.

Arggg, Brotherhood of the wolf, I might need to get an HD-DVD player now, I love that movie!! Damn these super power media giants and their dual format war . I have PS3, but they have some awsome titles on HD-DVD, I just don't have the money to buy the player right now. Someone send me their A1 please , I know most of you have upgraded to the A2, so sell me the A1 for cheap, lol. It will be nice to go along with my PS3.

I'm definately interested in getting "Le Pacte des Loups" (Brotherhood of the Wolf.) It's one of my all time favourite movies.

I'll have to see what the cost ends up being.
