Hdmi Cable Quality
Are there difference's in hdmi cable quality? I have been looking at a 6 meter length of hdmi to hdmi cable to go between an hd dvd player and my sony vpl hs51 projector , the cables I have been considering are: Audioquest entry level cable at $99, Monster cable 400 series at $145 and Kimber Kable entry level cable at $160. Any wise wisdom or thoughts? Thanks

Thanks Marky, I have probably posted this in the wrong area anyway. Thanks for the tip.

agreed. Stay away from all major rip-off brands. Anything sold in stores, is (sadly) not worth money, cable wise that is. There is ZERO advantage to buying a monster brand cable.

I just got my Sony KDS 60A2000 a couple of weeks ago. Dish Network came out and changed my system over to the HDTV/DVR box and I'm simply amazed at the picture. They connected it with the RCA cables. I can't imagine the picture getting any better but decided to try the HDMI connection. The prices at CC and Radio Shack blew me away....
I came back here, did a search, found these cables at Monoprice. I just ordered a 6 ft. cable and want to thank everybody here for the recommendations. I still don't see how it can possibly improve on the great picture that I have but at this price, it won't disappoint me so bad if it doesn't. ![]() |

"They connected it with the RCA cables."
I hope not! RCA= composite. I hope you meant to say component. If they used composite (wouldn't be surprised) then you will notice a BIG difference in PQ. Either way HDMI is the best you can get.

I did receive my cable from Monoprice and am completely pleased with the cable and their fast shipping. That being said, I can't honestly say that I see any advantages over the picture that I was getting with the component connections. I am not sorry that I bought it. It is a much cleaner install. Maybe a more discriminating viewer can tell the difference but I can't.

There's a brand new AVS forum just for HDMI. Check out the on-going Monster Cable vs. monoprice.com battle in this thread: http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=786727 The ranting seems to have abated, plenty of good info to read.
