Why would a BD disc play on an LG upconverter?

It was pretty sad since he's never used a BD player before he finally got his Sony. His response was basically "Yeah well......I'm sure they'll fix it eventually."
Its not ironic at all....Sony clearly said that BDJ BD playback firmware was needed before the player ever went on sale.

Played great in my PS3. Started up nice and fast. Its even faster than the upscaling Sony DVD player I was using.

FWIW, I got Descent yesterday and tried it with my Panasonic. The menu seemed to work properly and movie playback was problem-free for the several minutes I checked. Chapter fast forwards were also no problem. The Panasonic has the latest firmware.

Im not going to say troll, but come on. Can't help it - "Troll". I have an old cassette tape, could you try sticking it in your LG and let me know if it works, it might?

A JVC Blu-ray player. Wow. Must've been released back in November.

It plays on PS3 for me, not on the samsung (went spinning for about 2 minutes, till I hit eject).

The PQ is stunning - white water rafting in beginning looked completely clean and HDV like without any grain at all. Blacks look black, zero noise. The AVC stream very often peaks above 33Mbps+ and stayed above 30 for long periods. Someone really cranked up their dial on this movie.

The PiP segment was sort of fun to watch, but it is a separate stream - mpeg2 encoded at 24Mbps or so.

Didn't like the movie, couldn't understand the lead characters - the two strongest women in there. Watched the movie with the 1.5X playback button and PQ still looked good.

In the end, I filed the disk away --- a novelty title for completing the collection, but not exactly academy award material.
