Harmony 720 vs 880 - About to pull the trigger, please help!

I really can't decide between the 720 and the 880, I prefer the 720's styling over the 880s but it would be nice to have 8 soft keys (880) rather than 6 (720). The reviews seem pretty comparable for both models. I've used a friend's 880 and haven't been blown away by it, I've never had a chance to play with a 720.

Are there any differences in the IR strength? I cannot find any technical information on this. My friend complains about the IR strength on his 880.

Do all of the keys on the 720 light up? I've heard that the 880's hard keys do not light up.

I would either purchase the 720 from Costco at $180 or the 880 from Amazon at $155 - is it really worth paying $25 more for a "lower" model Harmony remote? I'm leaning towards the 720, but am questioning whether it's worth it to pay more for less...

Thanks for any input,
Matt

BTW... My system includes:

Sony 50" SXRD LCOS
Comcast HD DVR
Nintendo Wii
XBOX 360
HD DVD Player (XBOX Add-on)
Panasonic Upconverting DVD Player
Onkyo 504 Receiver

Why don't you consider HK TC30: $110.00 on Amazon, the same style as 720, 8 soft buttons as 880, signal strength - at least 30 feet I measured.

I looked at it, but it doesn't have page up/page down buttons that I use constantly on my DVR... Thanks for the suggestion though!

You're willing to pay $70.00 for two hard buttons as oppose to two soft buttons, wow, that's the dedication to your buttons. Well, everybody has own priorities.

I really wouldn't call it a 'lower' model. It's the first one designed completely by Logitech (the 880 was done by Harmony before the buyout). It was released in July '06 (vs May '05 for the 880). It might only have 6 (vs the 8) hard buttons, but I think it is actually a "higher" model, even though the number designation is lower. The screen is better on the 720 than the 880 too.

Thanks for the replies everyone, I saw that Amazon dropped the price on the 880 another $10 yesterday to $145 and with my Amazon Prime free 2-day shipping, I felt it was too good a deal to pass up.

Thanks!

Bought my 720 for $159 at my local Wal-Mart today. It was an orphan so I had to take it home.

Good choice, I was also deciding between the 720 & 880. I got my 720 last week really like so far .

I liked the design of the 720 over the 880.

if you like shape etc...
720 has a few other features over 880...
Sharper Brighter Screen
Better / Electronic Tilt Indicator
Better Cradle Contact
Oh...and it looks cooler
