Which Sony for SD Directv
I am hoping to replace my ancient 27" Zenith in the next month. I primarily watch SD Directv programming and DVDs. I have no plans to upgrade to HD Directv. I have decided I want a Sony CRT, but I cannot decide which will best fit my needs.
I really like the KD-34XBR970, but I have not seen one on a SD signal. I have seen the HD DLP and LCD projectors on SD input, and they were really bad. The LCD displays were even worse. Does the Sony CRT look better? Or, should I just go with one of the Sony SD models like the KD-36FS170 or KD-32fs170? Thanks, Jason |

Depends a little on what you watch. If mostly DVD's - I would think about a widescreen - if mostly 4:3 SD - I would probably just get a 4:3 set. I have had Sony CRT TV's - the last being a Sony 32" HS set. SD was great and it also did HD which was wonderful. Sold it to get a Plasma (average SD at best). Now getting a 34" XBR.

Just subscribed to Diresctv myself, regular SD,and I have to say,
PQ is crappy. Used to have Echostar Dish in another location and it seemed superior to what I see now. I can download 350MB avi torrents of UK TV shows and play them on my USA Samsung HD841, despite the high compression and frame rate differences, it sure beats directv. Directv is fuzzy and color rendition is sometimes very poor. |
