need help turning 5.1 to 7.1

I have been building a ht with 5.1. And have decided to take advantage of the extra 2 channels offered by my cary cinema 6. My room is 16 by 13 with a optoma hd70 projecting onto a 114 inch screen. I have been pushing the chairs backward or forward depending on if I was gaming, Hddvd or cable or just listening to sacd or two channel. I need help deciding how far back should I put the R&L surrounds,or what would be the best over all distance from the screen to ears? I am going to either put the speakers inwall or onwall, but leaning toward onwall because of the sound treatments( oc705, extend 3 inch ) But either way they will be fixed . I have been using B&W 802ds front with HTM1d center and Design Acoustic ps-10a for the rear.I have two jl audio f112 one next to center channel and one center rear. I am adding atlantic technology dipole surrounds (370 in sr ) they suggest placing 1-2 foot above ear but not more than two feet from ceiling. I don't have much room to work with as the rears and the surround will be pretty close. Any help would be appreciated .Thanks
