Reference Disc for Newbie

Ok, I'm stopping by BB tonight to get the 360 HD-DVD add-on with the VGA cable. I know it comes with King Kong, but I plan on getting one more HD-DVD movie (and then probably renting them for awhile).

What's a good reference disc? I do have King Kong on SD-DVD, so I can do a comparison there, but I really want something that I can pull out anytime for friends/family and show them how it looks/sounds.

Actually, King Kong is an amazingly good looking disc.

I would also recommend Pitch Black. It has some strange colorization (on purpose) but its a beautiful looking movie.

This is probably a good place to start:

If you're into animation I highly recommend The Corpse Bride and The Ant Bully.

Thanks! I did a search for "reference" but that thread didn't come up. I do love animation (and have Corpse Bride on SD). I heard The Ant Bully wasn't very good, but I might pick that up anyways. I also have Pitch Black on SD, so I'm not sure I want another copy of it. I don't really plan on replacing much of my SD collection since I'll have the upconvert thing working.

Anyways, thanks for the thread suggestion. I knew there must be one but couldn't find it.

EDIT: I also missed the HD-DVD software forum completely, which is why this is here. Sorry about that.

I said the same thing and have since replaced all the SD ones I had with the HD versions, it's that much of an improvement

Once you go HD it's hard to go back.
